  Jason does Brisbane

I finally got to meet Jason King from Rockhampton, during his visit to Brisbane this weekend. We did the Lego Shopping Tour Of Brisbane [as trademarked by Richie Dulin], consisting of the CBD and Garden City, covering Myer, DJs, Target, Kmart, BigW, (...) I am going to guess that very few people imagined (...) (22 years ago, 22-Jul-02, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

Re: How good does it have to be?

(...) Good enough to stick together reliably. My definition of reliable is that if I push a model partly off the edge of the table, it shouldn't crumble and fall apart from its own weight, even if it's not completed. (that happened to me with the MB (...) (22 years ago, 11-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

(...) The Coko sets that I own are of near-LEGO-quality ABS and, along with Tyco, probably rate among the "best" of the clone brands. Recently there's been speculation that the current Coko sets might be similar to the awful Shifty brand knockoffs (...) (22 years ago, 6-Sep-02, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

[nb: I've set FU->.market.shopping, but set it as you will based upon your point of order.] Hi, everyone. It's time for your South African Shopper's Report!   Shifty Brand Hits North America

I was out checking the lego situation in Metrotown, when I decided to look at the Dollar Store. I noticed some model cars in the front and wanted to see them.   Re: Shifty Brand Hits North America

I've seen these knock-off sets at various times in Ontario. They turned up a couple of years ago at Home hardware, but disappeared almost as quickly as they appeared. I picked up an assortment at a dollar store in guelph last spring as well. As (...) (22 years ago, 2-Feb-03, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, lugnet.loc.ca.bc.van)

  Re: Art Asylum Mini-Mates blocks

It seems unlikely to me that LEGO would provide true-LEGO bricks without requiring a clear indication on the packaging, but I can't imagine, given TLG's successful litigation against Coko/Shifty, that TLG would allow a (...)
