I don't know if there IS an economical way, as you are generally going to want to put vertical plates in place, and just about any part necessary to do that isn't that economical on a grand scale. You could use 1x1 headlight bricks, or technic (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.town)

Hi all, I know this is a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone had any 45 degree sloping roof bricks in colors not available in bulk from Lego S@H (ie blue, yellow et al).   Is buying sculptures as a source of cheap bricks a good deal?
 
I am considering purchasing a LEGO sculpture for the bricks. i.e. #3723 LEGO Mini Figure or #10018 Darth Maul. The cost/piece comes out to around $0.085 each (including freight). By comparison, a 50 piece bag 2:4 bulk bricks from S@H is $0.139 (...) (23 years ago, 9-Jan-02, to lugnet.market.theory)

I copied this over from RTL: Gary Istok (...) That's right, you used to be able to buy the macaroni bricks in red, white, blue, yellow, black, clear, and later in the '60s also in grey. 1. I have a small lot of 16 1x2 clear bricks (2 types) with 6 2x2 slopes. 2. For string fans, I have 4 10x10 nets and 4 winches. 3.
