| | Re: Shay #5
|
| (...) Wonderful MOC, Lewis-- great attention to details! As I was pouring over your pics, it struck me that you have cleverly built past minifig scale to around 1:29. Though you are 8 wide, Shays were a little over 9 feet wide. Also, Shays ran on (...) (22 years ago, 9-Nov-02, to lugnet.trains)

| (...) Hmm. It might make sense to make a stud primitive for the minifig hips studs. But probably not a subfile. OTOH, there's only one part that uses the minifig-hip-stud. So a primitive is not really justified. (...) Ah. Yes, I could see how that (...) (22 years ago, 5-Nov-02, to lugnet.cad)

| (...) I can't help myself. Since none of us will ever know what the business justification is for making molds vs. reusing existing pieces, it's all wild and idle speculation. But, here are my guesses, worth far less than a 2x4 brick. - There's more (...) (22 years ago, 8-Nov-02, to lugnet.general, lugnet.castle)

| | My opinion on drivers...
|
| If (and when, hopefully) Lego makes drivers for steamers, I think they need to meet this criteria: Available in both blind and flanged versions. Available in medium and large versions. Large ones would be about 1 1/2 times the height of a minifig. (...) (22 years ago, 2-Nov-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.org.us.michlug)

| | Re: how very odd

| Lego always makes new parts. They have to balance the cost of creating a new part with the eventual use of that part. In normal production sets, new parts can be used often, and the creation costs recovered. The Star Wars line has lots of new parts (...) (22 years ago, 4-Nov-02, to lugnet.general, lugnet.castle)
