I just finished the second, and I hope much improved version of my lobster -- as well as Blade Runner and ATOC -- inspired space craft. Hi I'm working on a telerobotics project where I use various input devices an a PC to control a Mindstorms robot, equipped with a wireless video camera. After doing a little more sleuthing, I was able to find out how to process incoming IR and VLL messages. And yes, thankfully, VLL decode is built into the firmware!   Remote control of Scout and RCX through IrDA port
 
The TV Remote Control program at (URL) can learn the Lego Remote just fine. The current version of their software is voice activated. You can also make your own controller skins. With my iPaq (3600 series Pocket PC), I could control a Scout or RCX (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.robotics)
