Re: Question for model RR gurus

(...) Yep, "cool and fun" are two big reasons! <grin> Being a computer programmer at my 'day job', programming RCXs is something I enjoy. It's a challenge, trying to reduce a problem to its simplest solution so I can control it with an RCX (or two, (...) (23 years ago, 18-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Are LEGO "Train" Clubs endanger of becoming LEGO "Town" Clubs?

(...) But what J-2 *isn't* saying is that the first show for the new GMLTC layout is NOT a 'train show', it is a large Scandanavian Festival in Minot, North Dakota. We're building for the target audience! And even our 'town' sections will have two (...) (23 years ago, 13-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

Re: space legends and the SW licence

So the 'Life on Mars' sets are ok, since they are strictly (...) (23 years ago, 14-Aug-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.space)

Re: Are LEGO "Train" Clubs endanger of becoming LEGO "Town" Clubs?

(...) Interesting question! I'm not sure how to answer it, though... As the GMLTC (slowly!) works on its new layout, we're building a lot of buildings for our 'downtown' area. Are we putting a lot of effort into them? Yep - but we put a lot of (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

Re: Are LEGO "Train" Clubs endanger of becoming LEGO "Town" Clubs?

A very interesting question, JT. As for my own club, the GMLTC, I know that we won't be including a train yarn in our initial building phase because some perceive cars just sitting on tracks as "boring". Nothing could be further from the truth for (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

  Module Standards?

Hi - After discovering Ben Fleskes' module PDF (really well done!), I'd like to know a bit about standards. Most specifically, what module standards do GMLTC and MichLTC use? I ask this because those two clubs are the closest to us geographically, (...) (23 years ago, 6-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

Anyone else heading to Legoland Carlsbad this weekend?

I just *know* there's going to be at least a few other Lugnet folks out there this weekend, right? I'll be there, taking LOTS of pictures of the PNTLC layout. I've been told specifically by the rest of the GMLTC to "steal as many ideas as you (...) (23 years ago, 3-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Hello from LegoLand CA!

Howdy all, Well, here we are at Carlsbad, all set-up and ready to go for this weekends show! We arrived yesterday (Thursday) and started setting up in the afternoon and finished up today (Friday). We've had several local people form the SCLTC (...) (23 years ago, 4-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains)

(...) That's a can of worms! Conan as an individual exhibitor clearly predates the PNLTC by a lot but it's a matter of semantics as to whether he "was" the GMLTC all by himself. (...) True dat! My sense (could be wrong, it's what I picked up from their newsletter) is that GATS is a small family run company with not that many employees, so it's not like it takes a lot to spread the good word. It's spread. The train clubs (...) (23 years ago, 2-Aug-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug)

(...) John Neal might be off-line for a few days, he's attending a wedding this weekend. Otherwise, I'm SURE we'd hear him chirp up on this subject!
