Re: Pictures of the completed GMLTC Plummer Building model

(...) As we were building it, we would tell people the internal structure is to prevent the walls from going ( ) , as well as keeping all the floors straight and level. Since this model will probably be moved around between different Mayo Clinic (...) (20 years ago, 29-Sep-04, to lugnet.build, FTX)

  Re: Raising a model?

(...) The GMLTC uses a "grid and tower" system, with towers of 2x2 bricks, and a grid of 2x4 bricks. (URL) Towers, grid, overlay (surface). The green bricks represent the outside wall of the module, the blue 1x4 bricks are what leaves room for the (...) (21 years ago, 28-Nov-03, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Pictures of the completed GMLTC Plummer Building model

(...) Thanks, Larry! The real building has oodles and oodles of tile work and stone carving - while we were building it we joked that Dr. Henry Plummer (the architect) must have brought in every stone carver in a 500 mile radius! You can see some of (...) (20 years ago, 29-Sep-04, to lugnet.build, FTX)

(...) It might take me until the May open house to recover! We guestimate between 1500 and 2000 people between 10am and 4pm. This was the first time we had to station a doorman to limit the number of people in the space, because it was so packed as (...) (14 years ago, 10-Apr-11, to lugnet.trains.org.tcltc, FTX)

  Re: Brickworld was a Blast!

(...) The GMLTC isn't big on tooting our own horn. Heck, our website probably hasn't been updated in a year or more. Conan and Chuck's collection is probably between 2.5 million and 3 million bricks. Obviously we don't have an exact count, but we've (...) (17 years ago, 28-Jun-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld, lugnet.general, FTX)

  GMLTC Web Site?

Is the GMLTC web site available anywhere? According to John Kelley ((URL) is was going offline and it doesn't seem to be back up.   A quick report on the GMLTC Plummer Building project

I think I've finally recovered from last weekend. We started building the Plummer building around 9a.m. on Friday, September 10th. Between then and 3a.m. on Monday the 13th when we finally called it quits, I worked on it 54 hours (and got 9 hours of (...) (20 years ago, 19-Sep-04, to lugnet.events, FTX)

Re: 9V Train Motor Being Discontinued?

(...) The GMLTC doesn't do too many appearances each year. But, almost all our appearances are at 'train events' - model railroading shows and at the Jackson Street Roundhouse in St. Paul. We consider ourselves model railroaders first, and Lego (...) (19 years ago, 28-Mar-06, to lugnet.trains)

  an 'improved' coupler design

Ever since the GMLTC became one of the first clubs to build our trains 8-wide, we've run into problems trying to run long trains. Simply, the LEGO magnets aren't strong enough!
