| | Re: voltage regulator current rating
|
| (...) The rated total is 1 amp. The HB itself draws 100 to 200 mA? I'm not sure, I haven't measured it exactly. Since the HB's battery is 9.6v, and the output voltage of the regulator is 5v, the thing drops 4.6v, and at 600 to 700 mA of current that (...) (28 years ago, 6-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

| | Re: ni-cads in parallel

| Don't do this. First off, you won't get more current, nicads already can deliver gobs of current, enough to be dangerous. You want more amp-hours, not more instantaneous amperage. Secondly you will have problems with cells charging each other. I (...) (28 years ago, 6-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

| (...) Yes. The interface will draw power from the HB's battery. Don't leave the HB plugged into the interface w/o the adapter for extended periods, because the interface will drain the HB's battery even if the HB is switched off. -Fred (28 years ago, 15-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
