  Re: memory

I believe reliable operation of the VR used in the HB is about 7 V. Is this correct, Fred? (...) (28 years ago, 10-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: memory not remembering...

Ben -- the pin 27 R/W line of the RAM should be connected directly to the R/W line of the 6811. I don't remember the pin # off hand -- it's 7 i think -- but just check the schematic. check the continuity first on the board. if that's ok, then check (...)   Re: JAVA and the handyboard

(...) I believe the predecessor to Java (known as "Oak") may have been designed for embedded systems. But last time I looked, a Java Virtual Machine took 8 MB of memory, which won't exactly fit into the HC11 address space :-) Really, if you want a (...) Perhaps I have just overlooked this in the documentation for the HB and IC. Is there an easy way to control the chip selects Y*? Are they memory mapped or harder to get to than that? Thanks for the info: patrick (28 years ago, 21-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  (senior design)

My design team and I just recieved our Handy-Board. We plan on building an autonomous mobile robot that will run a search program and (hopefully) locate a 4" x 4" wooden(passive) block. The domain that it will search in is approx. 15' x 15'. We plan (...) (28 years ago, 18-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

(...) RMB (Reserve Memory Bytes) RMB directive advances the location counter by the value of the expression in the operand field, effectively reserving a block of memory. The block of memory reserved is not initialized. Example: Location Counter (...) (28 years ago, 18-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Assembling the HandyBoard

Hello all: We got the handyboard assembly kit from Digital Micro Systems. We are putting it together now. Everything has gone well. Thanks, the instructions are really good. A couple of things have not worked quite right: 1. Couldn't find the 2.2M (...) (28 years ago, 25-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

(...) There are a bunch of proposals along these lines (eia standards, and future standards) CeBus, LonWorks. X-10 is most prevelant, somewhat limited, and some of the stuff sold is of marginal quality, although some is really good. X-10 is what you (...) Here is the relevant part of the test instructions: Finally, the MAX232's ability to transmit data to the host computer is tested. Again using pin 7 of J9 as a ground reference, measure the voltage at pin 3 of J9. This is the MAX232's serial output. (...) (28 years ago, 3-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Downloading problems

The memory circuit is probably flaky, or, you zapped a 6811 address line output. If you haven't already tried, swap the 6811 with a known good one. If that doesn't work, examine the ram chip addr, data bus, and select signals with a logic probe when (...) (28 years ago, 5-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
