| (...) Hardware wise, they have two motors, a touch sensor, and several light/IR sensors. They can hold one program at a time. They use a serial connected interface that uses light (not sure if its IR or not) for program transfer. There is no USB (...) (20 years ago, 31-Aug-04, to lugnet.robotics)

| | TexLUG Fall 2003 Meeting Contest Rules

| We will hold a projectile-launching contest at our next meeting ((URL) Contestants will bring machines (built at home prior to the meeting) capable of launching a standard projectile. | | 4095 Record and Play
| I had to buy this set just to see. Total disappointment :( Nice idea, dreadful implementation. The motor/battery box clearly tries to record the rotation of each of two wheels in "record" mode, and I think it actually manages to do that part ok. The (...) | | Mega Bloks RC set 9616
| I recently purchased this set for the sole purpose of examining its R/C technology - I have an ongoing interest in the area of Lego R/C as some on lugnet may know. The R/C system itself is clunky. A large box holding batteries, receiver and motors - (...) (22 years ago, 10-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

| | Re: Save the RIS!
| Unfortunately, it seems that TLC doesn't have a clear idea of what to do with Mindstorms in general. Their support for the whole line has been less than full - note the failure to update software for their cameras beyond Win98. I've been using the (...) Besides, not only was the promo restricted to playing cards, but they were actually produced by Upper Deck, not TLC, so I'm not sure how (...) (20 years ago, 10-Jun-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)
