For those living on the west coast, the park is there and you go often. (You do
go often right?) Anyway, the attraction for me, coming from the east coast,
would be a chance to go to the park. While I wouldn't object to any location on
the west coast, my first interest would be for the park. A second close
interest would be Anaheim where I hear there is another great group of parks,
but I don't know much about them. ;^)

Since the park closes so early (5 or 6pm) then I would think it would be great
to divide the day into park time and evening time and have things start around
noon and end around midnight or later. That more closely matches my "play" time
with the hobby anyway.
I guess the fundamental question that needs to be asked is whether or not this
event is geared for adults or children or both. I enjoy BrickFest a lot and I
enjoy the comradere of adults. I think there are adults out there that would
like to bring/invovle their children. If we could divided the day into park
time and evening time, then we could divide the focus into Adult/Child time at
the park and Adult time at night at the group hotel. Some families might be
willing to divide up in the evening to allow AFOLS to play at the hotel while
spouses and children engaged in other evening activities like shopping or
touristy things.
There is certainly a lot to do at the park and in the surrounding community.
As for the issue about where the mocs are and the fact that a great deal of
train stuff will be at the park... We could organize games, events, and
learning session in the evening at the hotel and have MOC or Train specific
sessions in the early evening just before and briefly after the park closes.
If we can get the Park to work with us on certain issues, we could plan for one
or 2 hours in the "tent" after the park closes and exit through the service
entrance. I know I would be willing to bring MOCs to the tent in exchange for
park admission or a reduced rate and a few hours in the tent with just
conventioners and not the whole public. Just my $0.02

Just a thought, but Europe has huge LEGO Fan celebrations. Is there a
community in California that would be interested in exchanging convention space
or community space for a weekend of tourism or community interest. Working with
LEGO might be able to bring a truck or a promotions involvement that might
drive interest in the park in Carlsbad. Again, working now towards this might
enable many things that could be put in the works for Feb.

I am interested in seeing and participating in Animation and Video events,
Mindstorms events, and maybe a few gaming sessions including perhaps some
Spybotics.
