| Don't confuse the hardware version number (RCX 2.0) with the firmware version number. The 2.0 firmware has been available as part of the "2.0 RIS Beta SDK" download for quite some time from the Mindstorms web site. The 2.0 firmware can be downloaded (...) | Assuming firmware is "software", the question still remains whether the licensing agreement that came with the Mindstorms kit refers to only the PC-based software (which was my interpretation when I read it) or whether it refers to the firmware too. | (...) That 's definitely wrong. Robolab uses the same firmware like RIS. But they use different names. In RIS it is named "firm0309.lgo" and in Robolab they call it "firmware.txt". In Robolab 2.0.1 you can find the file in your Robolab folder: (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

| Hey, I can't seem to find any of my Mindstorms CD Rom's, and a while ago I put on some new firmware onto my RCX. | My sense is that future versions (say in time for Christmas) will have new firmware, but the new firmware will also be available to current users. I'd say you got a good deal. At DM 109, even the Droid kit is a good deal, not even counting the (...) (25 years ago, 6-Apr-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)
