That 's definitely wrong.
Robolab uses the same firmware like RIS. But they use different names. In
RIS it is named "firm0309.lgo" and in Robolab they call it "firmware.txt".
In Robolab 2.0.1 you can find the file in your Robolab folder:
Robolab:VI.LIB:Rcx1:Text:firmware.txt
With their non public Robolab 2.5 beta they use "firm0328.lgo" and the path
is now a little bit different:
Robolab 73:Engine6:VI.LIB:Rcx1:Text:firmware.txt
(I 've written the Macintosh file system convention but I 'm sure that with
Windows you only must change the : with \ and you get the correct path to
the firmware file)

That 's okay but some of them use the _s_a_m_e_ firmware. So you have
_n_o_t_ to load an other firmware into the RCX if you change from RIS to
Robolab or to NQC. All those three programs use the original firmware which
come with the Mindstorms CD or with the Robolab CD.
The newest version you can get is the one that you will find on the Lego
server ... it 's firm0328.lgo ...
http://www.legomindstorms.com/sdk2/RCX2_SDK_BETA.zip
If you open the newer files firm0328.lgo or firmware.txt with a text editor
you can read the version number in the first line of the file.

0x33 3

ps
pbFORTH and legOS do not use this firmware ... you have to load their own
firmware if you want to work with.
I hope this helps ....
