Will the Remote Control directly control the RCX output ports A - C without
downloading firmware?
Will it run the RCX built-in programs without downloading firmware?
The output ports and built-in programs of the Scout from set 9735 Robotics
Discovery Set respond to the Remote Control, but Lego did not design the
Scout to download firmware normally. Why would Lego have designed the RCX
to require downloaded firmware just to do the built-in functions?

| (...) No, the Remote functionality requires (AFAIK) the RIS firmware. It won't work with the Robolab firmware which is different. (...) ?? Programs won't run w/o firmware of some kind. (...) The Scout wasn't designed to be used with a remote (...) (24 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)
