Re: Robolab, byte codes and assembler

(...) We should not forget that the RCX has initially been designed for kids. So the standard firmware should be considered according to the initial aims, which were to provide a really great tool - toy for children. Therefore the firmware designers (...) The firmware source code is also a good source of information about how arrays work. (...) The firmware (...) (17 years ago, 4-May-07, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

Yes, they left it alone... The 1.5 RCX ROM has the same version number as the 1.0 RCX ROM. The firmware file shipped on the 1.5 CD is identical to the 1.0 firmware. Dave Baum (...) (25 years ago, 20-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Blocking The Lego Remote?

Hi Stephen, you will not have success with this approach, because the LEGO firmware has no collision detection (especially no collision avoidance !) for their IR protocol. So if you're using more than 2 IR devices with LEGO firmware you will receive (...) (23 years ago, 27-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

  RE: NXT Optimized Array Handling

I would suggest that the easiest way to understand how standard firmware handles arrays is to go to the NI web site and do a search on something like "efficient LabVIEW memory management" which will result in a nice description of how LabVIEW (...)   Re: Search algorithms

The main problem is of course memory. Under standard firmware, with 32 variables, you're not going to be able to do an A* on much of a grid - 7x7 is about the max, and even then you'd have to fiddle around and store two cells values in a single (...) (21 years ago, 4-Dec-03, to lugnet.robotics)
