| (...) There is of course an alternative, if you want to put up with the hassle. Buy a good respirator with a cartridges designed to filter out the MEK. But you need to be careful. You need to make sure that the cartridges are fresh as once in use (...) (19 years ago, 23-Feb-08, to lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

| (...) Using a standard #1 knuckle coupler is an interesting idea. But instead of using the raw shank version, why not go with one that is mounted in a draft gear box? A little epoxy or MEK could probably mount the draft gear box on a hacked brick. (...) (19 years ago, 28-Jan-08, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

| (...) For plastics, I'd recomend "GOOP" over silicon adhesive. It has a small amount of solvent to adhere to plastic, and sets faster. The stuff is like a hybrid of Silicon and rubber cement. As for CA (superglue), the fumes are nearly as dangerous (...) (20 years ago, 17-Feb-07, to lugnet.parts.mod)

It is rather a solvent that literally loosens the plastic molecules of the ABS, and allows them to intertwine between bricks. Once it evaporates, the ABS returns to a (...) |
| I will soon be gluing LED's (light emitting diodes) inside some LEGO elements. In the past, I've always used MEK for gluing LEGO pieces together, but I need something a little more viscous and less runny for this. Any suggestions? -Rob (...) | Well, I finally got off my butt and tore apart one of my SanDisk Cruzer Micro USB drives, and fit it into Lego. I decided to use plates so I could add more color. | MEK is about all that will work well. The parks use a combo of MEK and liquid ABS resin, but MEK will work well enough. You can get pint cans of it at various hardware stores, I'm pretty sure HD/Lowe's would have it in the paint dept. If not, try (...) (21 years ago, 16-Nov-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
