  Re: Some window questions

(...) If this is blasphemy, then burn me at the stake...... .... because I've done this a lot with the 1x4x3 windows. I reverse them too, but in an inside corner, the notches are in the way .... so off they come. About 10% of my 1x4x3 windows are (...) (25 years ago, 4-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Shell Promotional Sets - Autumn 1999

It is intersting to note that Shell and TLG have had a promotional "relationship" since 1966, when Shell superceded Esso as the "gas station of choice" for Lego Town system. That year set #325 (one of my all time favorite sets!) Shell Station came (...) (25 years ago, 5-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) Wow, thanks for the praise Jeff ...... (swelled head now going back to its' former size) .... one thing that the Deja News item doesn't cover is the sets that some of these windows come in. As to the 1x4x2, it came in a lot of different sets. (...) (25 years ago, 4-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) Hell, me and Larry would gladly rent a dump truck from Michigan, drive it to Enfield, count out the pieces and drive it back ourselves, just to get the opportunity to "make it easier on TLG" and satisfy our Lego urges....(10,000 windows for (...) (25 years ago, 5-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) I sometimes have a hard time telling the difference. The pips on the 1x2 aren't a good indicator, because I have ABS 1x2 plates with that pip. Here is an overview of telling the difference: On new or hardly used pieces it is much easier. The (...) (25 years ago, 4-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) Hey Mark, you are correct!! Set 725 - Town Plan (the later 1962-64 version) had over 100 clear bricks, in brick sizes 1x1, 1x2, 1x6, 1x8, 2x2, 2x3, 2x4 and 2x2 quarter circle (macaroni). No clear plates or slopes in this set. Keep those clear (...) (25 years ago, 5-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) they'll turn that color. But one thing I did notice is that the clear 1x2 plates from the 1960's Architectural parts packs are indistinguishable from those of the Lear Jet (1970's). That means that both are ABS, or they had a lot of CA plates (...) (25 years ago, 5-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

Sanjay, Thanks for the info. New Zealand is not the only country that had a (soon to be discontinued?) bulk order policy, but (and this is rare for me) I kept silent. Hey John! Those 4x8 curved plates came in a left curve and a right curve piece. They came in Service Packs #227. In Europe both the left and right curved piece came in one set (2 of each with an extra 2x8 white plate). In the USA/Canada Samsonite (...) (25 years ago, 5-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

Arjan, No two people have the same collection. Size may be important in other areas, but not in this newsgroup. Thanks Scott. Are you trying out SAHBO as a new acronym (Shop At Home Bulk Orders)? Well I don't know if it will do any good, but I do know that Peter Eio will read the letter. Thanks for the info John, very informative. If we got group orders in bulks of 50,000 or 100,000, would that be enough to justify a special run of specialty pieces (such as 1x2x2 windows, 2x2 cylinder bricks, 2x2 tiles)? Gary Istok (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)
