Re: And I had to laugh!

(...) Well stated Eric, For me "LEGOS" is like fingernails on a chalkboard. I always find myself correcting folks (politely), by telling them that they are "moiderin' the King's English". Same thing when people use "monies" incorrectly. Gary Istok (...) (19 years ago, 9-Sep-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: What was the first set you bought for parts, and how old were you?

(...) For me it was as an adult. Circa 1980 (I was 27), and it was the London Bus Set #760 (#384 in Canada, Britain, Australia and continental Europe). This set was first produced in 1975 in USA (1974 elsewhere). I found them on clearance at a "J. (...) (19 years ago, 9-Sep-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.fun, FTX)

1972 European Basic Set That May Not Exist?

OK, I have been scratching my head on this one for a while as I am working on completing the History of Lego CD... From 1965-72 the following basic sets were produced in continental Europe, Britain and Australia (not USA/Canada). This table is from (...) (19 years ago, 16-Sep-05, to lugnet.general)

(...) And lest we forget, the Train "only" windows from 1980-83.... Black 1x2x2 town windows only found in train sets #7727 (2), #7730 (2), #7750 (2), and #7810 (4). Gray 1x2x2 town windows only found in train set #7740 (10!). Although these were (...) (19 years ago, 17-Sep-05, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Train Factory palette

(...) Great idea! When the Spiderman's Doc Ock's Hideout #4856 came out I thought how cool those sticker sheets were for the 1x4x5 windows. I thought wow, large mullioned windows made easy (sort of like the ones in Philadelphia's Independence Hall). (...) (19 years ago, 18-Sep-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Until Peeron gets the catalog bugs out of the system, the 1972 German catalog can be viewed here. The #077 set shown in the German catalog here, is shown as #070 in the Belgian catalog with the identical picture. (URL) you want to see the Belgian (...)   Re: 1955 'idea book' Byggebog, translation help needed

(...) Awesome Dave! This is the earliest "known" idea book I have ever seen, and the only one I've seen with the early 1949-56 "slotted" bricks with windows/doors with "wings" that fit into the slots. By viewing all of the Lego parts on Page 2, (for (...) (19 years ago, 19-Sep-05, to lugnet.general)

First Train Sighting in a Lego Book (1955)

(...) OK Train lovers I have good news and bad news about a train sighting in a Lego book (from Dave Shifflett), namely a 1955 Danish Idea Book. (URL) good news is this is the earliest known Lego picture with a train in it. The bad news is that it (...) (19 years ago, 20-Sep-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: Ideas and Suggestions for LEGO S@H

(...) A Greco-Roman theme. If anything, the old 1998 Erik Wilson Acropolis contest should be an inspiration for TLG: (URL) that TLG would need is to come up with a few column capitals (Doric Ionic and Corinthian), perhaps a 2x2x11 base + column (...) (...) OK, I just got word back from Billund.... the #077 basic set DOES exist... It was sold from Jan. 1,1971 until Dec. 31, 1972 in Germany. The set is IDENTICAL to the earlier #070 (1967-72) basic set, except for the box number. Other European (...) (19 years ago, 27-Sep-05, to lugnet.general)

Catalogs and box tops do not match what's inside? This is of no surprise! During the (...) (19 years ago, 28-Sep-05, to lugnet.castle)
