  Re: studless construction practice

(...) One advantage is rectified horizontal/vertical hole placement. To have an even ratio vertical hole distance using studded beams, you have to place two plates between each beam. Studless beams do not have this problem, and also provide a hole (...) (19 years ago, 17-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: studless construction practice

(...) Although there is a disadvantage here too. I find fewer spacing options with studless constructions, actually. Integer and half integer spacing is easy, but not 1/3rd integer spacing that I can get with plates. Additionally, very fine spacings (...) (19 years ago, 17-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Seven wide Koef Shunter

(...) I've enough 9v stuff to keep me going for a bit but I take your point regarding the IR trains - difficult but not impossible in 7-wide. I also look on 7-wide as a wide 6-wide. I've seen some very convincing MOC examples and note that you can (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Thoughts on Battery-powered IR-controlled trains

Plus a remote is usually in the hands of the controller, so can be re-targetted as necessary - whereas an RCX controller would most likely be fixed to the layout somewhere, and disguised as an object of some kind on the layout.   Re: Mindstorms NXT programming languages

(...) The size of the flash on the NXT is ridiculously small compared to almost any other consumer-grade embedded systems. Look at cheap digital cameras, PDA's, handheld game systems, thumb drives, MP3 players and cell phones. Name one of them with (...) (19 years ago, 13-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: localization (was re: GPS)

I've always been partial to ultrasonic rangefinding. It's not too difficult indoors under controlled circumstances. The old Nintendo PowerGlove used this technique. For robot localization, you'd probably want a minimum of three non-moving marker (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Ok, I'm going to try this again. :) I've learned a few things since my first post. I'm moving this to lugnet.cad.dev BTW. First of all, I know there is interest to in a Massive Ldraw file repository as I have gotten many private emails about the (...) (19 years ago, 10-Jan-06, to lugnet.cad.dev)

John, that is my goal with asking a lot of questions about rendering and trying stuff myself.   3T Board Change Suggestion
