  RF Connection To RCX

Hi I have found the IR in RCX limiting, especially because of its line of sight problem. I'm interested in developing an RF interface to RCX. Anybody has any experience, knowledge, suggestions, tips in this area? Any pointers would be greatly (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: Thoughts on 8448 (compared to 8880)

(...) Ah. My "problem", then, is that I only buy interesting sets. :^) I truly admire Lego's design ingenuity, and I really like building sets like 8880, 8480, 8868, etc., just to admire their techniques. I guess I should start buying up some bulk (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.technic)

  SV: Sensor Project Book Scans

(...) Copying for private use, or for some friends is not illegal, although some people want to make it illegal. Like publishers who have a stake in such matters. Writers usually have less interest because they are not the ones living on their (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Design Problem

Take the bent beams and attach them to a motor. When the car is at the top, the motor turns the beams, and the beams push the car off the magnets. To stop the car, you can have 2 sets of repulsing magnets - one on the car, and another on the bottom. (...) (25 years ago, 6-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Mindstorms RIS 1.5 find

(...) I just got home from visiting three targets near me. Scored two RIS systems for 130$ apeace, a droid developer kit for 57$, and two extreme creatures add-ons for 12$ apeace.... not as good as your find, but pretty good none-the-less. Hello, i finally managed to get my old 486 back to live and build a little home network to test lnpd & liblnp in a networked environment. As expected ;-), it works perfectly -- with 2400 baud 8-(.   Parts Updates News

Dear L-CAD'ers: I'm posting this quick FYI so that everyone knows what my plans are for the next parts update. I've currently got 70 files for the 2000-01 update. All the new parts, primitives, and file fixes submitted since the 99-06 voting was (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: random post

(...) Actually, I just looked at the lugnet server, and it seems to be spitting out headers for me. Odd. (Well, not that it is odd now -- it's what it's sensible for it to be doing. Odd that it wasn't for you.) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.publish)

  Re: subassemblies

(...) This ties in with an idea I've been bouncing around in my head: LEGO Design Patterns (similar to software patterns). A design pattern in the software world is essentially an abstraction of the behaviour you want an object to have. For example, (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Servos, power, and the expansion board

Here is an update: I added an external power supply for the servos. Same problem. Everything works fine if I hook up to the charger in ZAP mode. Anyhow, I added an 0.22 microfarad across +5V and ground simply by sticking it into the headers on the (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: Storing bricks at low temperatures

I know that Tony has paid big bucks for a lot of the Lego he has now. But in all seriousness, Tony, if you need additional storage space, my home in New York is always available. Just ship all of your Castle and Pirate sets to me across the small (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.storage)

  Mindstorms RIS 1.5 find

I just hit three targets looking primarily for sith infiltrators but found none. At the 2nd target I went to I found an open and damaged RIS 1.5 marked at $120. I glanced in and saw that it seemed to be missing some pieces too. I headed over to (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.general, lugnet.robotics)

(...) Note: TCS is not breaking any rules (not that you said they were, but a casual reader might inappropriately infer this); they actually have permission from LEGO DACTA to sell LEGO DACTA sets on the web. --Todd (25 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.castle)
