(...) That prompts me to ask something that had been on my mind for some time: Is the name 'Mindstorms' an honorariam to Seymour Papert ? It certainly should be... (Papert wrote a great book called 'Mindstorms'.) * -Simon (25 years ago, 22-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Well, here's my try: 6445 - Y2K Media Frenzy. Comes with 3 copies of the contents of Crisis News Crew, one done in red, one in yellow and one in blue, and a 1x1 transparent round plate. Box cover features all three news choppers hovering, vans (...) (25 years ago, 22-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

  RCX Code on the Mac?

The other day I was speaking with a friend who was recently job hunting (he's a C++ programmer and a Macintosh fanatic, like me) and he told me about a job he heard about back in August with The Lego Group in San Rafael, California: they were (...) (25 years ago, 22-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: speed control bytes

Fram my reading of the pcode interpreter source, you only get the option of doing all motors or none by default. It doesn't look like it would be too difficult to modify the pcode to only do the first two motors. You can get the source at: (...) (25 years ago, 22-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: First Lego League Software

(...) Sure, but why should those teachers/students able to use NQC be banned? I can (perhaps) understand banning it for being too powerful, but if that were the case, Robolab should be banned too. (25 years ago, 22-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: How old are you?

I'm 42, going on 17 (according to my wife). I've had an on and off affair with robots for years, and the same with Lego Technic for years. RIS finally got me to connect the two. Dave Johnson (25 years ago, 22-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

An interferometer! Wow, that is really neat. I would love to build an interferometer using Lego parts.   Re: Panaka is yellow?

(...) I think you're right- that is a reasonable assumption to make. I don't think that's what Lego intended, however.
