  WalMart vs WalMart

A while back there was a thread (possibly several) about how a particular set would be clearanced at one WalMart but not another. I may have stumbled into a solution... Go purchase the set where it is being sold at the attractive price. Then take (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-99, to lugnet.market.shopping)

  Re: Outlet Mall Locations?

(...) Actually, my guess would have been that these are two large outlet areas not currently served by a LEGO facility of some sort (Florida and the midwest have LICs, California has Legoland). The only major markets I see now missing anything would (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Part variation noted

I've noticed two types of Technic axle extenders. If you look through the cross axle hole in the extenders, you'll see that in the center there is a plastic flange which keeps an axle from going all the way through the extender (it only allows an (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-99, to lugnet.general)

  Sharp GP2D12 (analog version) troubles

Hi Recently Got a sharp Gp2D12 IR ranger , for those who dont know it continusly gives a analog value in proportion to the distance to a object. Problem: When I wired it up I got a constant 147-150 no matter were the object was. Unplugged sensor I (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Automatic Transmission

I have been working on building an automatic transmission for quite some time but have yet to come up with satisfactory solutions. I am looking for additional ideas to try. What I consider to be an automatic transmission in this case is: [Drive (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Hardest Piece to remove?

If I'm not mistaken, I believe there are two parts you can put together that are _impossible_ to remove without destroying one of both of them. Don't try this at home :) Get one of the octagonal Aquazone 'duct' pieces that has an angle at one end. (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Firmware w/o CD

You simply need the firmware file, which can then be downloaded directly by nqc : nqc -firmaware <your firmware file> No need for the mindstorm installation then. Though you may need the spirit.ocx to use rcxcc... But that's another story. Phil (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Any ideas on how to do this with Technic?

I've received some very good responses here. Jacob Andersen's worm gear idea is what I would do if I were to use a motor, but since gravity already provides energy for the system, a good engineering solution would not use an additional motor.
