I feel it's perfectly fine to ask what something is worth. YOu may not get an answer but there is no harm asking, IMHO. Dear Peter, If this is any comfort, the situation in Israel isn't much better. I didn't know by how much it was off until I moved to the US (three months ago). But I know now.
