Interesting discussion but it raises a few more questions. Are there any (bad) side effects when user code that is inserted in the ISR takes longer to execute than the 1 msec interrupt cycle. Not to be a nudge back at you, but I believe that they DO use fans. The information that I saw regarding these gave me the impression that they were for INSIDE the spacecraft.
