The Construction Site (www.constructionzone.com), an all-construction-toys
store in Waltham, Mass., USA, carries a pretty good selection of DACTA, and
can probably special order any sets.

Their one gripe is that it has been difficult for the store so far to get
MindStorms parts (such as sensors, the remote control, etc.), although I was
able to get a third motor from them for only $15.80.

They will ship, and take phone orders. I nabbed my RIS there--one of the
original 12,000 US sets--via a frantically placed phone call after hearing,
"... including Lego MindStorms," on their Public Radio sponsorship.

Many people have asked how to get the Advanced Pneumatics Set (#9633)
and  the Technology Resource Set (#9609).

These are Lego DACTA sets and not the regular Technic sets, aimed at the
educational market. They are normally only sold to schools and other
educational  establishments. They are not to be found at the usual
retail outlets. But not to fret.

In the U.S.,  I believe  they can be obtained from Pitsco at
http://www.pitsco-legodacta.com/

Elsewhere, you could approach your local Lego distributor and convince
them you're buying for your own educational use. It's not difficult,
they are usually nice people and tolerant of legomaniacs.

In my own case, I was able to impress on my local distributor that I was
aiming for a doctorate in Legorobotology (?MIT), specialising in
pneumatics. Since then, I have been buying Dacta parts through them
regularly or rather, as and when funds permit.

Just one thing, don't try to buy 50 - 100 sets and put them up for
auction, ok ;-)
