  Re: Transparent colors in POV-Ray

(...) Try dropping the 'ambient' part. This is how my transparent 'christmas lights' are defined: #declare Color46_t = texture { pigment { rgbf <1,0.905882,0.211765,0.85> } finish { ambient 0.0 diffuse 1.0 phong 0.5 phong_size 40 reflection 0.6 (...) (15 years ago, 12-Jun-09, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Please note: Change in LUGNET email behavior

Hi all, recently we have again had to deal with a significant surge in spam and as a result have found LUGNET blacklisted on Spamcop. This is quite obviously due to the fact that spammers have increasingly used the mail2news gateway of LUGNET, (...) (15 years ago, 12-Jun-09, to lugnet.announce)

Re: LDraw LEGO Ambassadors: Call for nominations

(...) Thanks Franklin, but right now, due to job constraints, I don't feel I could give this position my full effort. I regretfully decline. -Orion P.S. Maybe next year. (15 years ago, 12-Jun-09, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: Has Anyone Tried This and Will it Work?

(...) To do this, I think you will need to run a 'dummy' PF Battery Box. I had this problem awhile back when I wanted to power my PF IR switch points using a 9V Train Controller. I had to the the 9V lead to the Battery Box and turn the battery box (...) (15 years ago, 12-Jun-09, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Aw, no SNOT?

(...) Kevin: Stop by the ToT-LUG layout when you are at Brickworld. I've got a bunch of SNOT examples I can show you and I'll be happy to answer any questions you have. I agree with the comment that SNOT has become 'the IN thing', but it does have (...) (15 years ago, 12-Jun-09, to lugnet.events.brickworld)

Re: Has Anyone Tried This and Will it Work?

(...) Another thing to try: Use the 9V motor to power the IR receiver, and run the PF motor from that. This would require the 9V motor to be disconnected (just use the pick-up), and you'd need to run the train controller at full speed, and make sure (...) (15 years ago, 12-Jun-09, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Brickworld - Build On The Spot Challenge - Participant List

Hey everyone, Best I can tell, the following people will be competing in the BOTS Challenge: Team Hassenlug Team Brost Team Alano Team McRae Team Atkinson Team Donahue There is room in the competition for a couple more people if anyone still wants (...)   Re: Has Anyone Tried This and Will it Work?

(...) I just tried this out on my basement layout. The short answer is no. The 8866 motor has a 9v-style connector on it, so the first thing I tried was connecting a 9v motor to the new motor with a 9v cable. No luck. Next, I tried connecting the 9v (...)   Re: Taj Mahal MOC and TAJ the movie

(...) Beautiful, clever use of all kinds of parts to capture the feel of the real thing in microscale. The pool with the reflection is a great idea - water features are underutilized in MOCS IMHO. Roy (15 years ago, 12-Jun-09, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

  Re: Transparent colors in POV-Ray

(...) I'm using 3.7 beta at the moment, because it renders considerably faster on my quad core. But the result is the same in 3.6. Thanks for that link, It makes the T parameter a bit more clear. I see now the trick is to use ONLY the T parameter (...) (15 years ago, 11-Jun-09, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Transparent colors in POV-Ray

(...) Background is black by default, I got the habit of using rgbft from (URL) and think it does look a bit nicer than rgbf, but it turns out I did not completely understood the meaning of it (see my answer to mike).   Re: Transparent colors in POV-Ray

(...) For which version of POV-Ray you are generating the code? I have just made some tests with 3.6 for windows with your values, and I can not see any faults. Maybe this page give a clue to you (URL) (15 years ago, 11-Jun-09, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Transparent colors in POV-Ray

(...) For reasons that I don't understand, the apparent transparency of things in the final POV output is greatly influenced by the background color. Set the background color to black, and things look substantially more transparent than when it's (...) (15 years ago, 11-Jun-09, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Transparent colors in POV-Ray

Hello all, I'm the developer of LD4DStudio ((URL) and I'm in the midsts of rounding up the 1.1 version which supports POV-Ray export. But the thing is I'm not too happy about my transparent color setup. At the moment I'm using the following (this is (...) (15 years ago, 11-Jun-09, to lugnet.cad.ray)
