  Re: NXT memory limits

(...) So in theory, once the open-source firmware is released it could be hacked to support interfacing with the sound system in other ways (such as playing compressed mpg/ogg files or sound stream data)? (20 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Quasar I with updated pics - sorry about that

(...) Thanks! The only thing to note is that TLG never made the curved slopes in blue I made this in CAD before trying it "in the brick," so I didn't know. However, I'm sure they'll eventually come out with blue versions, so I'll just wait - I'll (...) (20 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: NXT memory limits

(...) See (URL) for the .rso file format. It is a modified .wav file. The only facility in the standard NXT firmware for playing sounds of any kind are playing a tone (frequency/duration) or playing a .rso file which has previously been uploaded to (...)   Re: NXT memory limits

(...) Most of the file extensions on the NXT start with .R and end with two characters which suggest the file type (SO for sound, XE for executable, TM for "try me", DT for datalog, etc...). A .RSO file is a massaged .WAV file. The .RSO file format (...) (20 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: pics of 4896, and other new sets

(...) 1000stein has some -amazingly- detailed pics of the 4896 main model: (URL) BTW, I added pics and info to the DB for NXT supplementals... (URL) And I just heard that our LEGO Retail stores (in MA) are now receiving new sets (Sponge Bob, Avatar, (...) (20 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2006, FTX)

  Re: NXT memory limits

(...) Is it something like mp3 (compressed), wav (non compressed) or midi (instructions to play a tune rather than the tune itself)?? Luca (20 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT memory limits

(...) Tim, I don't know of anyone who's done this, but I strongly suspect it can be done. and, a .rso file is what they call the robot sound file. Steve (20 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT interface

(...) In my experience, non-trivial programs written in NXTGL will use at least 10kb. Using my BrickTool utility to list the files on my NXT you get this output: C:\winapps\projects\...>bricktool /BT /COM=COM4 /Target=7 -listfiles (...) (20 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT Sound Sensor

(...) Which it does pretty well, maxing out around 100 dB. (...) Not as much (yet!) as I'd like. The sound sensor has two modes familier to folks who work with dB noise levels. One is a "flat" frequency response curve, and one is a frequency (...) (20 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  NXT Sound Sensor

The LEGO Education blog had some information a while ago on the NXT sound sensor. In addition to distinguishing decibel levels, they mentioned it featured "tone recognition". Can someone in the know comment on this feature. Can the sound sensor (...) (20 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT memory limits

(...) Having no knowledge of the NXT, I'm not sure what a .RSO file is. (a quick Google search of .RSO and sound takes me to the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra, and that seems way off LOL ) However, let me give an example of technology I am aware of. (...) (20 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT memory limits

(...) What do you mean? It is possible to transfer files between a PC and the NXT over bluetooth so you can "stream" a .RSO file but doing so at 64 bytes per packet would be rather cumbersome. And playing the file on the NXT could not begin until (...) (20 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Yes, but what IS it????? [Pt. 5]

(...) Nifty. Do you have any pictures or diagrams of this (OK, it's a *really* simple diagram I'll admit)? (20 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.trains)

(20 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.org.it.itlug)

Yet another mech inspired by Highway Haulers

Hello Lugnet! This isn't my first time posting, but this is my first completed model on lugnet. The picture quality isn't perfect, but i'm still learning the tricks of the trade..... You can find the mech here: (URL) So anywho, this model is (...) (20 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: Ah,... Breaker 1-9, this here is the Rubber Duck...

Hello Anders Congratulations! You did a great job creating the famous Rubber Duck out of Lego bricks. "Convoy" is definitely one of my favorite movies of my childhood, and it made me start building trucks out of Legos in the first place back then. (...)   Re: NXT to NXT communication?

(...) I can't figure out a easy way for me to test PC-to-NXT timelag, but I tried some simple bench tests on NXT-to-NXT. This is just the old standard of two timed loops (10,0000 interations), one empty, and one with a single block (or two), and (...) (20 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Yes, but what IS it????? [Pt. 5]

(...) That was exactly what I thought 'til I built one for our LUCNY layout. Turns out the diodes have to be the same way round :) So you only have to make one polarity of diode insulated track section. I use an RCX to simply reverse power every (...) (20 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.trains)
