Re: Why java is (not) bad for Mindstorms

(...) This doesn't sound crazy to me. And, I'd be willing to bet the people at LEGO don't think it's crazy, either. Steve (20 years ago, 24-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: New MOC: L-21 Mobile Multi-Role Platform (MMP)

(...) Thanks Kyle! I use the orange for the missile wells as a kind of "warning" colour. The orange looks better against the greys than red or yellow. Glad you like it. (...) It's absolutely shameful that I still haven't seen it. The next time I (...) (20 years ago, 24-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: New MOC: L-21 Mobile Multi-Role Platform (MMP)

(...) As always, thanks Chris! You're right; I'm now far more concerned with making things flow together smoothly and making each detail, as you say, "deliberate". Oh, and I was going to use your smallest worm gear joints for each gun, but (...) (20 years ago, 24-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: Why java is (not) bad for Mindstorms

(...) It does. The RIS GUI saves the programs in *.lsc files (in the "Vault"). These programs appear to be a C language variant. The LabView environment does the same thing. TFP (20 years ago, 24-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: New MOC: L-21 Mobile Multi-Role Platform (MMP)

(...) Heh, thanks Bryce! I've been following the Iron Mecha contest very closely. I just love how inventive all the entries have been so far. I also like how a lot of problems I have encountered in building large multiped mecha have been revealed, (...) (20 years ago, 24-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: The Bad Kitty

(...) Those guns make me wonder why I ever used that shoulder armor piece on a minifig. (20 years ago, 24-Jan-06, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: L-21 Mobile Multi-Role Platform (MMP)

(...) Thanks Anthony! I get what you're saying about the guns. I would love to make long, round-barrelled guns, but LEGO only makes 1x1 or 2x2 rounded tubes. 1x1 is IMO too skinny for the primary cannons, and 2x2 is too fat. I really wish there was (...)   Re: New MOC: L-21 Mobile Multi-Role Platform (MMP)

(...) Awesome new weapons platform, Mladen! Others have commented on the "hammerhead", the gatling gun, the missile doors, the sensors--in other words, they didn't leave me much. But they left me something! I love the hidden "inset" colors--the (...) (20 years ago, 24-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: New MOC: L-21 Mobile Multi-Role Platform (MMP)

(...) Thank you LFB! I always look forward to reading your replies! :-) (...) The railgun turrets are connected to the body with my (URL) joint-stiffening technique> that I've been using since the MWP. However, I had to modify it sideways by using (...)   Re: SpeedRail TGV Thalys

(...) I am a big fan of all things TGV. (You may have seen my 10ft+ long TGV) This is a cool model and I see how you have been influenced by other designs. I know this is CAD work, but I would like to see how you have the articulation between the (...) (20 years ago, 24-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Why java is (not) bad for Mindstorms

(...) Well my understaing of JIT compiler is that its a part of the actual runtime so I'm not sure how it would be on the PC?! Though you got me thinking (dangerous), perhaps the best way to program the NXT is not to run a binary but instead use an (...) (20 years ago, 24-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: How many transfer Opening - R20

(...) You dont have to index your EOAT to meet with the TO's. you can fix your EOAT to ONE T.O. and have a mobile base that spins. like say, a syncro drive or maybe a... oh i dont know... a killough platform. I need to make my shooting device (...) (20 years ago, 24-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Why java is (not) bad for Mindstorms

(...) I don't think you're asking too much. Just be warned that self aware robots tend to be depressed. Just look at Marvin from Hitchhiker's. Oh, and C3PO seems to be bipolar. :-P - Alex (20 years ago, 24-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: New MOC: L-21 Mobile Multi-Role Platform (MMP)

(...) Hey, I always look forward to new mecha from you; this one is no exception. You have a real talent for adding detail so that it looks clean and deliberate. I especially like the gun turrets, and how you used those round slopes to create a full (...) (20 years ago, 24-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: New MOC: L-21 Mobile Multi-Role Platform (MMP)

(...) I always love the military look of your mecha. This one doesn't disappoint. I like the beefy thighs. As always your guns are second to none. You could almost get away with saying this is your Iron Mecha entry. Not much else to say, really just (...) (20 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: Iron Mecha 2nd Update

(...) Hey, that's looking really interesting! I like the knees, and the fact that it has a very industrial look to it... Can't wait to see the finished product! Later, Chris (20 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: Why java is (not) bad for Mindstorms

Re: Welcome to the Building Arena, IRON MECHA

Re: Why java is (not) bad for Mindstorms

(...) I don't know the format of the output of the graphical programming environment. The concept of a JIT compiler seems good to me. Dunno where it should exist. on the NXT or on the PC? (...) Could be. (...) I sure hope so. (...) Kev (20 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)
