Finally! This mecha took way too long to complete. I started it after
Christmas, and only got it done yesterday. I guess age slows you down. Heh.
:-p
Anyways, this mobile platform is similar in some ways to my
MTP, which I did all the way
back in 2003. However, there are references to my other mobile platforms, as
well.
I should also mention that this mecha is quite stable. In fact, after the
MDP and MWP, it is one of the most stable MPs Ive ever built. Even on slick
surfaces it does not collapse. Ironically however, if I lift it up, the
middle leg joints pull themselves apart and the legs dangle. Oh well. :-)
Enjoy!

That is really something. As its been said, very utilitarian looking. To
be honest I didnt like the look of it at first, but the more I looked it
over the more it grew on me. I esepecially like the inclusion of the
knee-joint armor plates; something thats lacking in a lot of Mechs of all
kinds. The rail guns are too skinny for my tastes, but Im the kind of guy
that likes big, fat guns that bark as mean as their bite.

Thanks Anthony!
I get what youre saying about the guns. I would love to make long,
round-barrelled guns, but LEGO only makes 1x1 or 2x2 rounded tubes. 1x1 is IMO
too skinny for the primary cannons, and 2x2 is too fat. I really wish there was
a 1.5x1.5 stud version of those Technic tubes. :-)

I can just imagine this thing lumbering over a battlefield, the earth
shuddering with each foot fall. It fires off both rail guns, one after the
other; takes another step and sprays the ground with its gatling gun. Ooh
what a great stop motion scene that would make.
|
Yeah, that would be cool!
I really want to experiment with stop-motion LEGO photography in the future. Of
course, not with a model the size of the MMP, but definitely some kind of small
or medium size mecha.
