  Re: LSynth and string

(...) Will it be a problem if LEGO ever do green string? ;) At this time, using the best available string element seems like the way to go. AFAIK, Larry's string is the best. Steve (21 years ago, 26-Apr-05, to lugnet.cad)

Dan (...) new (...) tech, (...) the (...) I don't think it's a technical problem, I think it's down to budgets. Steve (...) No. Even in the 2D version, you can have different weight distribution, different motors and gears and any number of different wheels arranged where you like with akerman steering, skid steering, idler wheels, casters, etc. Then the (...) (21 years ago, 26-Apr-05, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Conditional lines on sloped wedge parts 43720 and 43721

(...) Hey, thanks testing it out. You're right about the conditionals zig-zagging a bit. I still have the feeling that if the surface were pinned down to the concave green line those zig-zags would go away. But I couldn't decide whether to divvy it (...)   Re: Harbor crane / horse and cart

I like that a lot. It takes courage to look at something round with domes and strange non-symetrical angles and think, "I'll make that out of Lego"! Details that really grabbed me was the crane ams, very well done and the pilings in the sea that the (...) (21 years ago, 26-Apr-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)

  Re: LSynth and string

(...) Umm... you REALLY should use a better string element than mine! It is really not very accurate as it doesn't model the three strands at all. It was just a quick hack, and it has fixed colors, if LEGO ever do red or white string it won't work. (...) (21 years ago, 26-Apr-05, to lugnet.cad)

LSynth implement's Larry's string cross section (no use ducking Larry) to create string using the hose synthesis class (this means splined strings with nice smooth curves). I think that a string type that uses pulleys as constraints is important (...) (21 years ago, 26-Apr-05, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: modern non-minifig Pirate sets?

The new Juniorized pirates are a HUGE disappointment as they are intended for 4 year olds. They just don't compare to the superior 1989-1995ish traditional minifig pirate sets. They have zero appeal to me, but I think perhaps there may be a few (...) (21 years ago, 26-Apr-05, to lugnet.pirates)
