Re: Robolab as a tool for teaching programming

(...) What you teach by not having a <= operator is that you should write: if ( x < 33 ) printf ( "x is 32 or less" ) ; ...rather than if ( x <= 32 ) printf ( "x is 32 or less" ) ; You can "get away with it" in a language that only supports integers (...)   Re: Robolab as a tool for teaching programming

(...) I would agree, but it was you who said "Programming with Robolab is much like creating a flow-chart" and "if you really want to know where spaghetti code comes from, we should talk to those who think flow-charting is a waste of time" here: (...)   Re: Reply 6: Issues vs. Mistakes

(...) Yep, 15K in about 4.5 years...but that's not 10 a day average. That's more like 14 per day (considering holidays, weekends, and vacation time - Granted, I work a great many weekends, holidays, and evenings, but I'd rather not start considering (...)   Re: Robolab Data Acquisition

(...) Perhaps I'll actually get an updated copy of Robolab (I gave it up due to no OSX version, now rectified, and a steep learning curve (for someone raised on FORTRAN and BASIC). I *love* the datalog (with one exception, see below), but the fact (...) (21 years ago, 16-Mar-05, to lugnet.robotics)

  Australian theme set from Lego?

Well, not quite, but looking at [LEGOSet 5962] I can't help but look at this set and think tuckerbox rather than tinderbox. All that's missing is a 'Gundegai 5m' sign. Oh, and I can't remember a witch in the song... she mustn't make an appearance (...) (21 years ago, 16-Mar-05, to lugnet.loc.au, FTX)

Re: FLL not allowing NQC; Mindscript is allowed

(...) I wasn't stating that there was ranting and raving in this thread--I mentioned that hte kid ranted and raved when his top was disqualified. the greater point was that when there are competitoins, there are rules to the competitions. These (...) (21 years ago, 16-Mar-05, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: RIS 2.0 Problems

(...) Tom, I'd like to hear your comments in response to my "robolab as a tool for teaching programming post" earlier today. The gist of it starts about here: (URL) short, I disagree with you regarding whether Robolab is neutral with respect to good (...) (21 years ago, 16-Mar-05, to lugnet.robotics)

  Robolab Data Acquisition

The objective of this note is not more input to the recent near "religious" thread of Robolab vs. NQC (or other programming environments)! My objective is to highlight the incredible data acquisition and analysis aspects of Robolab. If you're not (...) (21 years ago, 16-Mar-05, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Redesigned mini train wheel (!)

(...) The other, and likely reason that the axel hole was redesigned, is to be consistant with the new mini axel car wheels. These were redesigned to lock onto the axel for bull back and electrified racer motors. Unfortunatly all of these moter use (...) (21 years ago, 16-Mar-05, to lugnet.trains)

  Train Regulartors @ Winners

I saw Train Regulators at Winners today. $34.99, I think. Kind of odd that they have them. Maybe they'll get track in soon! -Greg (21 years ago, 16-Mar-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: FLL not allowing NQC; Mindscript is allowed

(...) The length of time a top will spin depends (in part) on its diameter. As a result the analogy to a pleasant conversation (during which, to my ears, there has been no ranting or raving) about FLL allowing NQC or not breaks down. John Hansen (21 years ago, 16-Mar-05, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: O-Train

Sweet! I saw this a while back with some of the club pics (one of the rare occasions I actually check out something like that) and your model was one of those that struck me. It turns out one of the steps in the process I used to generate the .tgz source code archive not only got the wrong version from CVS but it changed all my unix-style line endings back to windows-style line endings.
