  Ballista

Hello all, I haven't posted in LUGNET for a while, but here is my latest MOC: (URL) It was inspired by Nathan Wells and his smaller ballista using the dino tails. Here is a link to the gallery: (URL) PLMKWYT! Chris Perron (22 years ago, 13-Oct-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

Re: Question about quality of Best Lock...

(...) He may be trying to say that, but the rules are pretty clearly tailor-fit to the LEGO System. Every LEGO beastie that would be appropriate to use in this sort of game has been statted out, and every statted beastie exists in LEGO form. All of (...) (22 years ago, 7-Oct-04, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: New colours in Ldraw?

(...) How about dark-purple? I was looking for that a while back and I ended up having to match it by hand. I used R119/G34/B119, but I'm not sure how to translate that into numbers like Bernd posted. I can also guarantee that those numbers don't (...) (22 years ago, 7-Oct-04, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: A Question

(...) I asked about this at the last NY Toy Fair, and I was told that they aren't planning any new Adventurers sets, but they also aren't planning to drop the theme entirely. It's just a matter of them coming up with ideas that they want to run (...) (22 years ago, 6-Oct-04, to lugnet.adventurers)

Re: A Set within a Set.

(...) You mean besides all of the minifig-scale multipacks? Those things were cranking out one or two a year for at least a decade, but the last time I saw one was from the Life On Mars line. There's also the Mos Espa Podrace set, which contains (...) (22 years ago, 28-Sep-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Robothon 2004

(...) Me too! ;-) (...) Actually we used one of the 3x7 melamine boards from Home Depot. These are easier to transport in a car, they have a pretty good surface for line tracking, and they are quite inexpensive. Using only one, however, was very (...)   Re: Crate Size

(...) Usually we aim for around 30 balls per crate. That gives enough leeway that if a robot is out of commission for a few minutes (changing batteries, say) that a 'filling' robot still can run without being stopped. More than around 60 balls and (...) (22 years ago, 13-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Re: not a 20% off sale...

(...) Well, when I went to Myer last Saturday they had 20% off Lego in addition to the "50% off second item" offer, and the way the cashier calculated it, I got 20% off the first item and 50% off the second. Which is nice. Cheers, (URL) Sci-Fi LEGO> (22 years ago, 13-Oct-04, to lugnet.loc.au, FTX)

  Re: Crate Contraption Standard

(...) I've been quite busy recently, and so haven't had a chance to participate in this discussion until now. Pardon the long post, but it'll answer many of the questions and give details about SMART's own quest for a module standard. As Mark said, (...) (22 years ago, 13-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Help - no response from "brick"

I used nqc to download pbforth.srec. (The LCD displays "4th".) There is no response from the "brick" using either HyperTerm or CRT4.1. I'm using RCX1.0. Am I missing something? Thanks, Jordon (22 years ago, 13-Oct-04, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.pbforth)

Here's my latest creation: (URL) not really sure where this was going, though I rather like the end result. Its the result of staying up past bedtime, listening to techno, and several other factors. Definitely got me thinking looking at both Philip (...) (22 years ago, 13-Oct-04, to lugnet.space)

Optical Mouse as an RCX sensor

Has anyone ever thought of using an optical mouse as an RCX sensor? An optical mouse sensor attatched to a robot could solve many problems. The first one and very distinguished problem is the navigation position calculation by adding ways, the robot (...) (22 years ago, 13-Oct-04, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Robothon 2004

(...) ... (...) I'm looking forward to the video. From what I can see, the whole layout is on a white 4x8 board, right? Two stationary "Ball Lifting" robots, and two moble "transport" robots. One question. Does this robot: (URL) the "dump truck" by (...) (22 years ago, 13-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: Crate Size

Here's a couple more questions for the SMART guys. First, how many balls are "normally" loaded into a crate? I'm guessing between 20 and 30. How would things be effected if the crates were a little shorter? It appears the crates could be one or two (...) (22 years ago, 13-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

In the "Better late than never" department, here are pictures from the second day of SMART's mini-crate contraption at Robothon 2004. (URL) display was VERY popular!
