Has anyone ever thought of using an optical mouse as an RCX sensor?
An optical mouse sensor attatched to a robot could solve many problems. The
first one and very distinguished problem is the navigation position calculation
by adding ways, the robot has absolutly moved. So the robot can keep a map of
its environment in a 2d spectacle.
LEGO seems to be too sleepy to offer such a feature along with its RIS Robotics
Invention Set RCX. No thought, they just build a machine demonstrating a basic
princip, where sensors are bound to outputs by simple program logic interaction.
This is a basic demonstration, that will never be false and out of date.
But do exist any third party solutions, being a little more progessive?
greetings
