You don't say if you want Technic or town-theme cranes. For Technic service pack #5284 includes a hook. It should be pretty easy to build the rest of the crane mechanism using normal Technic pieces, except for the string. You'll have to supply your (...) (26 years ago, 18-May-99, to lugnet.general)

This (and a "rarest piece" thread in lugnet.general) reminds me of a rare sloped brick piece that I'm sure some of you who have any 1960's LEGO will recognize, and that is a 2x2 regular sloped apex (peak) brick that instead of an "I" ridge line has (...) (26 years ago, 18-May-99, to lugnet.build)
