Re: Bid retractions (was Re: eBay dead again)

(...) Weird, I didn't know eBay accomodated bid retractions on closed auctions. Seems kind of futile to put in a bid retraction _after_ you've entered a binding contract to buy the item. -Adam (26 years ago, 23-Mar-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: Bid retractions (was Re: eBay dead again)

(...) My idea was to make the person type in their bid again if it is some multiple (like 10x) above the current bid, not just click an OK button, though even just putting an EXTRA "are you sure" screen, with a differently arranged button, would (...)   Re: Minifig What scale are they??

(...) Well, my standard for minifigs is 7mm = 1 minifig foot. This is based off of the fact that minifigs are typically about 42mm tall (you can adjust that with backpacks and hats), which should be roughly 6 feet. This translates roughly into a (...)   Re: Bid retractions (was Re: eBay dead again)

(...) A reason to always pay attention to your auctions, and look at the bidding history if the auction jumps a lot in the last moments. If I'm eagle eying an auction, I'll even capture the current bidders just before the last moment, and then (...) (26 years ago, 23-Mar-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: Bid retractions (was Re: eBay dead again)

(...) I think Ben was talking about an auction which hadn't ended. If the auction has ended, the runner up bidders have no obligation, but the seller is permitted to offer the rejected item to them. (26 years ago, 23-Mar-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

  in DC 7 - 12 April

Although I will be terribly busy supporting setup of a show over the weekend I'm hoping that Tuesday 11 April will be a slack evening. Any chance for a get together? Nobody in Florida wanted to get together so I'm kinda wondering if I have bad (...) (26 years ago, 23-Mar-00, to lugnet.loc.us.dc, lugnet.org.us.wamalug)

In lugnet.trains, Mike Poindexter writes: <snip> (...) <snip> DVD vs. DIVX was not about 'standards', it was about profits.   Re: In town, any chance for a get together

I'm still here in Boca Raton (WPB/FLL area) this week, next week and most of the week after next. In fact I am staying over the weekend to go to a wedding 31 Mar- 2 Apr. Any interest on anyone's part for a get together? Tampa is a bit far off, (...) (26 years ago, 23-Mar-00, to lugnet.loc.us.fl)

lego in the toy hall of fame

I looked around to see if anyone had posted about this yet, but it seems that in 1998 Lego was inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame.... (URL) (26 years ago, 23-Mar-00, to lugnet.general)

Re: Bid retractions (was Re: eBay dead again)

(...) Okay, I was wondering when and why the subject got changed to closed auctions, since bid retractions can have no effect on them. Thanks Frank. -Adam (26 years ago, 23-Mar-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

(...) Again: Trailer is 76 inches wide. Trailer door is 72 inches wide. Between the wheelwells trailer is around 74 inches wide. Dear all, I'm impressed by the big amount of posts concerning module standards! And all this just because I started a little question in the beginning of this thread.... But to define standards seems to be a serious problem of all train clubs and I (...) (26 years ago, 23-Mar-00, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.trains.org)

Re: Bid retractions (was Re: eBay dead again)

(...) That sounds fair to me! I wouldn't want to have proxy-bid $300 and then gone away on a trip and had my proxy bid lowered to $200 because someone reneged on their $250 bid, and then lose out if someone else bids $250 again. (Or would the $300 (...) (26 years ago, 23-Mar-00, to lugnet.market.theory)
