Doug, CURRENT RCX are 8 studs wide. But if they make one specifically for trains, they don't have to worry about batteries, and can make it much smaller (think Scout size, or even multiple modules). I have two that are the old rounded-corner type. They are both 24x32. One has white dots to mark the foundation of a structure. There's a square in the top left center that measures 4x4.
