Hi all,

I did a lot of Lego cannon building research, for mine new cannons.

see: http://news.lugnet.com/pirates/?n=4176

I googled up a storm. But I can tell you that this group is the mother load Lego cannon design. I have compiled a few of the many useful cannon links.

A thread started by Kenneth Tam. http://news.lugnet.com/pirates/?n=2866

his cannons http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=22130

includes John Henry Kruer cannons http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=22173

also includes Richie Dulin cannons http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=16063

A thread started by Tom Reed http://news.lugnet.com/pirates/?n=2868

his cannon: http://www.zyworld.com/tmot/Page11.htm

The new thread by Daniel Yuhas http://news.lugnet.com/pirates/?n=4076

and his nice cannons: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=101800

So if my cannons look at all good, it’s because I stand on the backs of the giants of Lego cannon design, The real pioneers!!

I know that I have looked at many more cannon designs out there, for swivel guns, and mortars so if any of you, know their links, reply to this thread, and we will have them all in one place!

enjoy

kurt

You’ve done a great service!

I’ve added a link to your post to the .pirates sidebar.

Cheers

Well, thank you so very much for counting me among the “giants” of LEGO cannon design. You’ve inspired me to make more actually, and inspired me to spend about $50 on bricklink this afternoon. Haha. I started off just buying a few more bucket pieces (going to paint some pink ones black), but then I decided to get backpacks, hats, and many weapons. Then I decided to not stop there and got many other cool pieces. It added up quick but oh well. When I get them, I’ll be building another few huge cannons, as well as working on some smaller ones. Thanks again. Daniel Yuhas

Another good link!

The thread call “Home built pirate weaponry” started by Richie Dulin

http://news.lugnet.com/pirates/?n=2645

And in that thread is this post http://news.lugnet.com/pirates/?n=2650 in which Richie gives the construction details for his carronade.

I have made a slightly different version of his carronade

my carronade’s part list (not the mount)

qty part name

1 2489 Barrel 2 x 2 x 2

2 4032 Plate 2 x 2 Round

2 32062 Technic Axle 2 Notched (one out each side)

1 3941 Brick 2 x 2 Round (studs away from the barrel)

1 533 Cylinder 2 x 2 with Dome Top

1 4519 Technic Axle 3 (tight into the dome top back to the barrel)

1 4599 Tap 1 x 1

I am putting 4 of these on the TRS LEGOMALEE’s quarter deck she’s “in dry dock” getting her fore mast moved.
