Hey, guess what?
"Bring Your (Favorite) Minifig To Work Day" is just around the corner! :-)
Last year I think it was on Friday, December 11, but the 11th falls on a
Saturday this year.
A proposal: How about let's officially define BYFMTWD to be
"the second Friday of December"...?
Would that cause any conflicts with other popular holidays? I think it
remains consistent with past years being a Friday too.

In Italy (and guess Spain and Austria too) December 8th is a holiday, so
when the 1st of December falls on Friday the BYFMTWD would fall on a
holiday.

Would BYFMTWD include bringing minifigs to school since school is the place
that we go to instead to a place of work?

I don't know if I'll bring mine to my school... (I'm considered weird enough

Well, it would probably fall on Hannuka quite a few times, but I guess that
wouldn't matter in most countries, as there's no vacation in Hannuka. (Only in
Israel... but apparently I'm the only fan from there, and even I'm not there
now!)
Happy BYFMTWD!

It´s the same for me. The only time I had a minifig in school was when my
friend gave me a classic space minifig because I helped him with some
homeworks.

I see the minifig keychains as providing a reasonable excuse
to bring a minifigure to work or school with you.
I don't need an excuse, though. =) I'll carry a castle figure
or two in my pocket on a moment's notice. They can share room
with the insectoid or majisto keychains.

how about we have "Bring-your-minifig-to-work-WEEK"? that way if you
don't work every day, or have a day off, you don't miss out. Also, if
you can't make up your mind which minifig to take, you could choose your
top 5 and bring a different one each day!

[The above is from 1 year ago. :-]
Timothy, that sounds great to me!
What does everyone else think?
If you bring your favorite minifig to work this week (Monday the 11th
through Friday the 15th), it would fall in line with BYFMTWD on previous
years. (IIRC, 1998 was on the 11th and 1997 was on the 10th, or something
like that.) BYFMTWD goes back to 1996 or 1995 on RTL, maybe even earlier.
How 'bout we say that BYFMTWW is the week in which December 11 falls?

Total agreement over here!

Awesome! I'm not sure if it might someday coincide with Hannuka, but heck, I

I've had thoughts about this as I put models together at my desk. It ususally
goes something like this.
Supervisor: You'll never work here again!
Me: As you noticed, I barely work here now. (rim-shot)
Luckily, I also answer an 800-line so there are times when I'm required to
amuse myself. Other times, I just work on not getting caught. Like today, my
Lead is off and my Supervisor sits half-way across the department and has one
of those voices that carry well so I always know when he's near.
Now I have to figure out which is my favorite.

Why only one week a year? I rotate them out so I always have ~10 at work,
which gives me plenty of selection for when I want to swap around parts.

I dunno, they're here all the time anyhow. How can I pick a favorite with
so many little people to choose from? Perhaps we could have a vote... Nah,
I'd just end up recounting it till I got the desired result anyway. Better
just bring 'em all!!!

Great! I finally brought mine in today, to join in with the half dozen that
live at work.
Mine is as follows:
Qui-gon head, Torso from Adventurers guy with hook hand ( has shoulder strap
with pouch, but no gun in belt), Two regular yellow hands, brown waist and
legs, brown cloak, brown Star Wars hood.
And today he decided to bring a Star Wars light sabre handle with a green
castle flame in it ( to ward off aggressive co-workers )

Howdy Folks.
Sorry to bring up some critisism here but i have to say that i think Todd
doesnt handle this correct.
How could it happen that a celebration of _that_ importance could pass by
without me recognizing it?
Every day in office i took at least one look at lugnet and didnt get it that
BYFMTWW is approaching. Now i have missed it! (Think this in capital letters
<g>)
What shall i do now???
Really Todd. To let this happen shows, that you are not enough concerned
about those New-AFOLs like me. You should have reminded and explained to all
of us the BYFMTWW on a much more prominent place on lugnet.
Now i have missed it and have to wait until next year (huhuhu).
Harald (now needs to explain why he sits crying in his office)
PS.: Ok folks, just a joke. Dont flame me again ;-)
