No. Indiana is a very powerful state in terms of LEGO use, but we're not (yet!)
powerful enough to license our state name. Thanks for asking!

Hi Bryan. We have an active club centered around Indianapolis called IndyLUG. We’re always interested in meeting new LEGO Maniacas and seeing their creations. If you’re interested, our November meeting will be on Sunday, November 12 in Danville, IN (just west of Indianapolis). The weekend after that we’re going to play a game of BrickQuest at the same location.

Since you’re in the Anderson/Muncie area, you’re relatively close to Dayton, Ohio where there’s going to be a National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) show this coming weekend.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. Contact information and most of our online communication can be found at the IndyLUG website.

Greetings All,

IndyLUG is proud to announce the By Air, By Rail Festival to be held in Fotville, IN (just northeast of Indianapolis) on July 21-23, 2006.

http://www.myfortville.com/by-air-by-rail.shtml

The organizers were so impressed with our displays/layouts last year they have offered our club over 4,500 square feet of space this year. It’s an air conditioned Middle School Cafeteria/Gymnasium with level floors that will be secured and locked each evening.

We would like to take this opportunity to extend an invitation to clubs and individuals to come and participate with us at this event. While the primary themes of the show are trains and planes, we have been given permission to display castle and space themes as well. The train layout will be the largest IndyLUG has done (roughly 35’ x 35’) and we hope to expand it by integrating other club’s layouts with our own.

We are also planning on some social activities after show hours that will give visiting participants a chance to meet some great AFOLs. We are currently looking into accommodations for out-of-towners and may have a few spare bedrooms available from local members. We are also trying to secure a block of hotel rooms, but the expense will be the responsibility of the visitor.

We are very excited to have this chance to host other clubs at a show and look forward to hearing from interested parties/individuals.

If interested, please respond to jedspurgREMOVE@iupui.edu as soon as possible.

Jeramy has offered to host the March IndyLUG meeting at his house in Danville. The meeting will be on Sunday, March 12, and it will start at 2:00.

Activities for March’s meeting will include:
• Planning for 500 Festival show (May)
• Planning for Fortville show (July 21-23)
• LEGO Archaeology (Bring anything LEGO related that has some kind of history and do a show and tell on it.)
• Eating chili (Jeramy said that he’ll be making chili and asks us to bring drinks, condiments, and snacks.)

Of course, any and all MOC’s, whether they’re related to an upcoming show or not, are always welcome.

If there are any Hoosier LEGO enthusiasts out there who have never been to an IndyLUG meeting, feel free to come. We’re always interested in new members and their new creations. Email me for exact directions.

I like the elves. And the little MOCs like the cart. And the chicken.

Those sweet elves were created by Matt.

I think the carts were made by Nathan, but I don’t remember for sure.

The chicken is, of course, not a LEGO piece. I think Nathan said that he bought it at a museum. (Correct me if I’m wrong on that one Nathan.) The chicken just happened to fit right into a minifig’s hand.

On the weekend of February 25 & 26, IndyLUG displayed at the Child and Parent Expo at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. Half of the layout was Castle/medieval themed. Thanks to Matt Bieda, Jeramy Spurgeon, David Gregory, John Kyle, Alex Taylor, Nathan Theising and Leah Cardaci for making this year’s Castle layout another great one.

The Castle area started off with a sea full of Vikings and pirates invading the shore. I’ve seen large groups of ships before (Evil Stevie’s Pirate Game at Brickfest), but there’s just something super cool when you see so many grouped together on blue baseplates.

The layout also included a castle with a CCC wall around it.

In the center of the Castle area we had a scene from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The scene was, of course, the huge battle from the end of the movie/book. We were hoping that lots of kids would have seen the movie in the past few months and would recognize the characters from it, and we were delighted when many of them did.

And what Castle layout is complete without lots of castles, fortresses and other various medieval structures dotting the landscape?

Then there’s all the neato minifigs that you just have to have.

Last but not least, the far end of the layout had a dropped down area. It’s always nice to have some way to add differences in elevation to the terrain.

Here are links to the whole Castle area folder and the whole Narnia folder.

Enjoy!

Hello everyone. I would like to announce that the December IndyLUG meeting will be on Sunday, December 18 at 2:00 at Jeramy’s house in Fishers. We were originally planning to have the meeting on the usual 2nd Sunday of the month, but the 18th worked better for more people.

Be thinking of who you would like to nominate &/or vote for in our upcoming club elections. We’re also going to have a gift exchange. If you would like to participate in the gift exchange, please bring a wrapped LEGO related gift in the range of $15.

We’ll be planning the layout for the Great Train Expo in January, so if you have any new ideas for that please have them ready. If you’ll be bringing the same MOC’s to the January show as the October show, that’s fine too; just be ready to remind us what those MOC’s are and how much space they use.

See you there,
