Let us hope that they appear in the (as of now, rumored) re-release as well.

It is not rumoured. It appears in the UK Shop at Home catalouge. MSRP is 70
quid.
I am very excited to see this one return. Legends are about the only new LEGO
sets I buy nowadays, and I will definitley add this to my collection. However,
while Town has always been my favourite theme, I wish LEGO would spread out the
Legends a little more. This is the 6th Town Legend when you include the
Metroliner and Club Car.

Could you please disclose for us where you received this information, and why

Jake, why are others privied to this information before the general consumers?

Simple: I picked up a new S@H catalogue at Windsor on Saturday and it's
featured on page 2.
It's no rumour, I can assure you, Lar...
I will scan it and post on Brickset later.

Also with the new palm tree I imagine (1 piece leaves, 1 piece trunk).
I noticed that the runways seem to have six studs on the edges.
The Century Skyway had seven (and even older airports had nine). The
windsock is also different. In the old set it is a 2 x 2 x 2 cone in
white with red stripes, in the new one it looks to be solid red.
Still a wonderful set! I spent many hours drooling over the original
when it was in a local toy store.

At least the hinged things SEEM to be the older style 5 finger (car roof) hinges
rather than click hinges. But I wonder if this is a photo from the older
artwork, perhaps retouched, rather than from the newer.
If they switch this over to click hinges I'll be disappointed but probably will
still buy some.

I missed out on that but I have enjoyed my used copy a lot. I am very happy to
see this come back. Century Skyway is one of my favorite town sets. I think it's
a better choice than http://guide.lugnet.com/set/6392 although that one is also
quite good

Will this set be available in the US?

What are you basing your conclusions from? The link shows a picture with runway
plates that have 7 stud wide grass strips. Or is there a picture directly from
the UK Catalogue? I'm also wondering about the plates, remember my plates were
Green with the gray painted, does this mean they'll be painted in the new gray
as well?

One of the captions on the picture states "Includes botha freight and
passenger airplane!". I only see a passenger plane in the picture and since
I don't the original, I don't know what it had.and there aren't any
instructions on BrickShelf to check. If this set includes another airplane
that would be wonderful but I'd be rather surprised as well. Seems like an
error in the catalog layout to me.

There's a yellow freight helo in it too. I guess they don't pay too much
attention to correct terminology.

It has the old Palm Trees. LEGO still makes the old palms. It was seen last in
the Breezeway Cafe LEGEND, and the catalouge image has the old palm.

I was lucky to get an unopened one a few years ago after it had been
discontinued for a reasonable price. Since the set has no dark grey pieces in
it, the re-release won't suffer from the new dark grey (which I cannot stand).
However, we still can't tell if the hinges will be the click or fingered
version.
Century Skyway is an excellent set and it's great that people who missed out
earlier now have a chance. But I'm still waiting for a classic space Legend...

S@H has it on their website now backordered to the 1st (Try setting the country

Wow! That's totally cool. I agree. I hope it hits the North American
market soon. However, I'm guessing the price is going to be 99.00 US,
which would make it the 2nd costliest Legend/Classic that Lego has
put out.
Just a thought...

Thanks for the update, but, my oh my, they reall screwed it up with the island
roadplate. That looks terrible! (look at the overhead view).
The differences appear to be...
...island road plate is entirely different
...runways are one stud shorter
...cone is red instead of red/white striped (this is an odd change)
Old hinges and palm tree are still there.

That might be right on the Cafe, but I'm almost certain, that the picture on
this shows the 2-piece tree; the palm leaves looks to have the etched surface of
the new tree, not the smooth surface of the old leaves.

Look a little closer - those two pictures are not the same set. Count the studs
on the circular road plate, between the bottom-right-hand corner of the circle
area and the 2-stud wide green plate across the end. 5 studs on one (with the
light centred), 6 studs on the other (with the light off-centre).
I suspect that the picture with the aircraft in place is of the original; the
higher view point is then the new version, but with no aircraft shown.
Are they pulling a fast one? I dread to think what the new aircraft look like.
What's the betting it's click-hinges all round..?
Jake - can you tell us what's changed? If the picture on the website is of the
original set and not the re-release, then I think it should be corrected as soon
as possible.

Correction - that's 5 studs on the original, with the light on the fourth stud.
In the new one it's a gap of 4 studs, with the light on the third stud.
The one with the aircraft visible has 7-stud verges either side of the runway;
the new one has 6-stud verges, causing the misalignment with the roads into the
building.

Okay, I've now received the new Shop@Home catalogue, and it allays some of my
concerns, though it's still not quite cheesey peas all round.
The picture in the catalogue (and this is the one Huw scanned originally), does
appear to show the new set, and it DOESN'T HAVE CLICK HINGES! Hurrah!
The catalogue has a low corner view and a higher view, both of which show all
the roadplates and vehicles.
Both of these views show the printed runway plates with new-style 6-wide verges.
Presumably these are Jack-Stone roadplate mouldings with a slightly reworked
version of the original runway print on them. The 1-stud misalignment between
the turning circle and the rear garages is visible on both views. As is a plain
red (not red/white printed stripes) windsock, although it is in two different
places on the two images. This suggests to me that both images show the new
Legend set, not the original.
The canopy hinge of the small helicopter, and the canopy hinge and the inside of
the sidewall hinges of the cargo helicopter are all visible in the main image,
and are all the original finger-hinges.
Apart from that windsock, the printing and minifigs all seem the same. There
even appear to be two freckled smiley faces (the fork-lift and luggage-train
drivers). I can't say absolutely that all the faces are spot-on, as I only have
the Lugnet image of the original to go on and that's not clear to that level of
detail.
Actually, someone's gone to a fair bit of trouble to position everything as it
was on the original box-shot for 6597. It makes for an interesting
spot-the-difference!
So, that just leaves the Shop@Home website, which may still be showing one
picture of the original set.
