removed. They show the list's genesis in 1994-1995
rec.toys.lego culture and describe sets that aren't
discussed often enough to deserve their own acronyms.
In particular, SOG sticks out like a sore thumb.

BTW, I was searching all these acronyms, looking to cut off the set acronyms
that aren't in use here. The results I got were hilarious:
50% of the sets appeared in three fixed messages; my acronym FAQ and two other
similar guides...
WP (wolfpack according to Derek Schin) appeared in a ~hundreds of messages -
99% posted by John DiRienzo, because WP was in his sig! ;-) I was ROFL!
I updated stuff like DM that could easily be confused (I wrote Dragon Masters,
but what about Duetsche Marks?!) and IP - not only Ice Planet!
I'm still waiting cause I know people will find more stuff. LMK if you do.

Thanks for the guide. I've been following Lugnet for about a month and have
been trying to figure out what TRU means. I did get BURP right away, because
one of the first postings I saw mentioned it.
I think I'm finally ready to join the LUGnet community. But I have a
confession to make. Once, when I was young and immature, I actually bought
some Megablocks for the purple bricks. I never did it again and I've given
them away since. Can I still be accepted into your hearty band of Legoteers,
or is it too late?

of, but if you're looking for penance, I suggest walking barefoot across a
carpet strewn with 1x1 bricks, which repeating "I'll never buy an off-brand

Here's my confession: In fourth grade, I used Octan emblems everywhere in my
town, and my octan company owned a hotel, a restaurant, and a Stable/Horse
rink... When I emerged from my (relatively short) Dark ages, I happened to
stumble across a set review dementing Octan, and realized my hateful
mistakes ;-) Now I'm into Castle so I'm trading the Octan figs away, but some
part of me is gone forever...

Nah... notice that you're supposed to walk barefoot... and 1x1 bricks are not
likely to be damaged from that ;-) Especially since your weight would be
devided among many, many bricks... Ouch!!!

Well, now that I have all the cards on the table, I'm kind of just back
into Lego. I mean, when the pirate theme was discontinued, Lego somehow lost
me. They started making heads with little headsets with the space people and
that made them too specialty to me. And somehow those glow in the dark ghosts
really turned me off. I did continue to buy Legos for my little brother who,
when I was too cool as a teenager to play with legos, I could use him as an
excuse. (He's ten years younger) Now that I'm too grown up to act mature (is
that a paradox... it's so true...) I'm free to Lego.
I credit ebay for my most return to my first love in toys. I discovered
the stuff I really loved is still out there. Someone's auction said to check
out Brickshelf, who pointed to Lugnet and I've spent too much money already.
Now I actually have the money to spend on what I really want, instead of
waiting for a set at Christmas, birthday, etc. I'm afraid a few of my loved
ones don't understand...
