Fantastic renderings ! Both ! The Brazil 3D-Studio and the POV-Ray. Now the
question is: how can we "normal" users (without Silicon graphic equipment
;-) ) make SO NICE renderings ?! For example I'm using ML-Cad, L3PAO, LGEO
parts library and POV-Ray. But Frederick wrote that the LGEO is probably not
the best part library for render so nice scenes. Hmm... I like the Brazil
rendering of Ferrari F1 Shell promo set. So REALISTIC looking scenes I wanna
make. ;)

Yes, truly amazing!
But now have a look at what POV can do...
("with a little help from my fiends" :-)

I started 3 1/2 years ago but never finished building the 2556 in LDraw
http://news.lugnet.com/cad/?n=971
so I grabbed the Ferrari by Kenneth Storm from
http://www.leocad.org/models/old/models.htm
and in LeoCAD I exported a DAT file, ks2556.dat
Then I ran it through L3P:
  l3p ks2556 -b15 -f19 -cg11,52,-5 -ca45
and made the POV file available at
http://home16.inet.tele.dk/hassing/ks2556.zip
Next I asked the remarkably talented people at povray.org
what they could do with that scene
http://news.povray.org/povray.newusers/26913/
and look what came up...

Wow!
Like Jonathan said: POV-Ray has nothing to envy to Brazil, when it comes to quality.

(...) I don't think I said that. At least it was not my intension. What I meant to say was that the standard colour/surface definitions in L3P / LGEO need some tweaking to get those results. Fredrik (22 years ago, 3-Sep-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)
