Hi gang,
  LPub4.0.0.1 is now available here:

  http://www.kclague.net/LPub4.htm

There are many bug fixes (especially LPub metacommands being put in the wrong
place).  My thanks to those whom fed me bug reports.  Geoff, please try this new
version.  I'm pretty sure I've fixed the issue you sent me.

There are a few new features too. When you change pages, the edit window
automatically displays the LDraw file lines for that page.  If you click on a
step assembly image, the editwindow automatically displays that step's LDraw
file lines.

LDraw file suffix is ignored.  File content tells LPub where it is an MPD file
or a non-MPD file.

I've also changed some of the popup menu titles to make them simpler for
younger ages.

The names used in the assembly image used to be based on a stack of
filename/linenumber (model_12_submodel_45_blah,blah....).  This meant that *any*
addition or deletion of *any* meta cause everything to be rerendered (because
the line numbers changed).

I changed these names to modelname/stepnumber format instead (plus the
orientation matrix, model scale, page size, and resolution).  Since LPub does
not add or remove steps, just metacommands within a step, LPub does much less
re-rendering, and is therefore faster.

LPub's not too smart with respect to what you manually edit in the edit
window, so things like moving parts across a step boundary, or adding/deleting
steps, or changing ROTSTEP values, go un-noticed by LPub.  To compensate, I've
changed the response to the editwindow's redraw button (blue circular arrow) so
that it clears the CSI and PLI caches before redrawing the page (that little
diddie is for ROSCO!)

  I hope you enjoy it!

Now I'm starting to work on pages that do not contain assembly steps.  Cover
pages (any pages before the first page that shows a step, or any pages after the
last page that shows a step), automatically won't have page numbers.

Non-cover pages can be inserted between any two pages with steps (these will
automatically have step numbers).

In pages with steps, you will be able to insert pictures, text blocks, and
arrows into the steps in the page (any of the above can be placed relative to
page, csi, pli, step number, step group..... blah blah).  For non-cover non-step
pages, you will be able to insert pictures, text blocks, arrows, and Bill Of
Materials).

This stuff could take a while, but they're appropriately high priority.

Kevin

(...) Hi Kevin, I really enjoy the new LPub but sorely miss the page image output. Am I just not spotting it or has it really been removed? I've always liked the ability to edit my files in GIMP to add renders, credit etc. Any chance of putting it (...) (16 years ago, 30-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad)

Kevin, This might interest you: Creating a PDF in version 4.0.0.1 and printing it gives strange black faces around some assembly images. See here: (URL) the PDF of the same MPD (URL) prints fine. (16 years ago, 27-Oct-08, to lugnet.cad)
