  Re: Battlestar Galactica on Mars?

(...) Actually, there are some other ways to name individuals from other planets. If I remember correctly, in one of the Stainless Steel Rat novels, our hero was sent to a planet called "Burada" (means "here" in Turkish). All the names here (such (...)   Re: More on the decline of LEGO quality.... [long]

Well speaking of old catalogs... Can anybody point me in the direction of the holiday 98 catalog? There is directions on how to build a trailer for set#3442 - the legoland truck (at least that what it says in the box). I looked for it on brickbay - (...)   Re: More on the decline of LEGO quality.... [long]

wow, I never noticed that before, but yeah it seems like the catalogs have gone way down in quality too. Jeeze I remeber buying sets just to try and recreate the scenes in the catalogs. That harbor scene is like the coolest one though. Matt Marshall (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jan-01, to lugnet.year.2001)

Re: More on the decline of LEGO quality.... [long]

(...) Okay, fair enough, I agree that the 2001 catalog has some pretty effects and pictures and stuff, but IMHO, they're still nothing compared to much of the old ones....I find the "cut and paste" nature of the pictures kind of cheap (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jan-01, to lugnet.year.2001)

Re: More on the decline of LEGO quality.... [long]

(...) EXACTLY. This ought to go in dear LEGO, don't you think. The catalogs have gotten plain BORING. I scan through my collection of catalogs (catalogs mean TOYS!) at least once every three days and find myself WISHING that I could go back to 1991! (...)   Re: More on the decline of LEGO quality.... [long]

(...) I tend to agree with you for the most part but I do have some complaints. The 2001 catalog has some nice scenes. Take for example the Alpha Team, the heir to the town throne (or so it seems): (URL) how about Life on Mars with their nice (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jan-01, to lugnet.year.2001)

More on the decline of LEGO quality.... [long]

----Note: FUT: lugnet.year.2001 (I figure this is probably the best place but feel free to change :)---- ...Sorry if this has been discussed but I was pondering today on the subject of the LEGO catalogs. (...) Thank you sincerly for explaining the purpose of the movie. Today I am renting the original, and will be able to truly enjoy your movie for the first time. Thank you! (24 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.animation, lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.build, lugnet.space)

Hey Jonathan, I'm glad you were finally able to watch the movie - I know you had trouble downloading it. And of course I'm even happier you appreciated it so much! Yes, it was a lot of work, but it was also a lot of fun. I love reading all the (...) (24 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.animation, lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.build, lugnet.space)

I haven't had a chance to see the original yet (although I have read the book), but your expert use of a camera, and the plotline, made it beyond words. Of course, some people cannot appreciate (...)   Re: NEW 2001 sets (Scuplture Dragon! and HTO stuff among)...

(...) I second that. I saw the Big minifig model on sale at legoland - almost missed it. The model was in a very plain, ugly box. There was no color, no pretty pictures - nothing. this shows me that it is a mail order item. (24 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.loc.uk)

They are too expensive, and too specialized, to attract a lot of interest in the retail sector. Their primary appeal will be to (...)
