I think I really am gonna stop collecting this garbage

I never thought it would end, but after 29 years of collecting Lego (100% Town complete; 80% Train complete), almost 1500 sets, close to 200,000 pieces, I need to seriously consider stopping to collect these absolutely horrible pieces of garbage (...)   Re: A good use for 2001 Alpha Team

(...) I think I too agree that this is the same baseplate (new color) that graced the recent Avdenturers "Egypt" theme, a "classic" $29.99 set whose name escapes me (saw them at KMart before the August clearances hit) that had a kind of overgrown (...)   Re: New 2001 Lego Racers

(...) Whoaah! Someone at TLC needs a wakeup call! I didn't ever recognise it as LEGO (I first checked the 'recent uploads' at Brickshelf before I read this post). What is LEGO thinking? What marketing research do they have to back this up? "If we (...) (25 years ago, 12-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: New 2001 Lego Racers

(...) That's gonna be kind of hard with these(1). They only appear to have "imitation" studs. Gak. 1 - I know you know that, I'm just whinging. ++Lar (25 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

  Re: New 2001 Lego Racers

(...) Or, better yet: collect all eight, and doubles of some, and build something new and cool and utterly unlike anything dreamed of by the people who designed the sets. (25 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

  Re: New 2001 Lego Racers

(...) Looks like they are after the "mum, can I have that ?" market. Cheap enough for the parent to give in, and look there is 8 in the set. All getting very HTO/Impulse purchase orientated. It's worked for fast food retaurants/breakfast cereal (...) (25 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

Well - I didn't like them *that* much more... but at least they were still *lego*... (...) It's so much fun, isn't it? ;-) I do it (...)   Re: New 2001 Lego Racers

(...) Wow. Those ARE bad. Are you sure you didn't get hold of some McDonalds advance planning stuff? Those look like something you get in a Happy Meal, not something that has anything to do with building. Sigh. However, remember that Lego has had a (...)   Re: New 2001 Lego Racers

  New 2001 Lego Racers

I just got my Nov.-Dec. Mania magazine in the mail yesterday, and inside was an ad for the new Lego Racers. Y'know, those ugly little critters we saw artist's conceptions of (in the 2001 catalog, I believe). Well, they have the actual sets in there, (...)   Greek Mask Question (was Re: here comes the next wave of 2001 sets...)

Mr. Istok: Since you have a pair of the better educated eyes on the subject, what scale do you imagine this green greek-style pop-eyed mask to be? The direct link should be here: (URL) would be so great to have this mask in minifig scale AND in gold (...) (25 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

Re: Other new Lego for next year

(...) For 1200$ I would expect more than a few large hull pieces with a motor. More life 5000+ pieces and a motor :-) Kev Z #142 (25 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001)

Re: Other new Lego for next year

(...) Get real! They would make a whole slew of new huge pieces that wouldn't even be *close* to real Lego. There would probably be a dozen plastic panels that snap together... and then you'd pay $200 for the motor. (25 years ago, 9-Nov-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001)

  Alpha Team Info/Review

My roommate sent me a link to a review of the Lego Alpha Team game. (URL) it or not, it got a pretty good review, and there are some nuggets of information about the characters that might well translate over to the theme as well. eric (25 years ago, 9-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

Re: When are the Movie Maker sets released?
