Re: Handling "Kid play areas" on layouts

"Frank Filz" <ffilz@mindspring.com> wrote in message news:39C77BDA.4287@m...ing.com... (...) So has anyone figured out a way to have LEGO donate (or loan) a K-8 to support a LEGO exhibit at a train show? Mike - mike_walsh@mindspring.com (24 years ago, 19-Sep-00, to lugnet.trains.org)

Re: Handling "Kid play areas" on layouts

(...) Another thing to do is if a kid gets abandoned for very long is to get the show staff (if you are displaying at a regular show) involved. It should not be the responsibility of vendors and demonstrators to police this. (...) That of course is (...) (24 years ago, 19-Sep-00, to lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.trains)

Re: Handling "Kid play areas" on layouts

(...) A loan of a K-8 would be a great way to stock a KRR. All you'd have to add then would be track, a few train motors, some train wheels and some couplers, and possibly some large plates. I would assume one would pre-stock the KRR with some (...) (24 years ago, 19-Sep-00, to lugnet.trains.org)

  Re: The Big Chicken Lives

Thanks John, I was thinking about taking it outside and doing just that. But first I'm debating on whether I should make up some KFC decals to go on the side of it. Most people around here know what it is with out the decals, but it just seems to be (...) (24 years ago, 12-Sep-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.loc.us.ga, lugnet.loc.us.ga.atl, lugnet.trains.org)

  Re: The Big Chicken Lives

(...) Awesome work, James! That is *exactly* what I like to see-- regional clubs exhibiting regional stuff! It is things like that which make particular train layouts memorable and unique. Hey, let's see some pics taken outside from the same camera (...) (24 years ago, 12-Sep-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.loc.us.ga, lugnet.loc.us.ga.atl, lugnet.trains.org)

Re: Handling "Kid play areas" on layouts

(...) Well actually - no. Our club (NALug) is all LEGO, not just trains, and we are having our first train show in a couple of weeks. Laura's feedback is very helpful and interesting, but I only read it because it was in lugnet.trains, which I read. (...) (24 years ago, 6-Sep-00, to lugnet.trains.org)

Re: Handling "Kid play areas" on layouts

(...) You build it very solidly, put gutters around the table to catch bricks, and have one or two members watching it. You don't include *any* personal stock or anything you care for dearly in the Kids Rail Road. They will take it apart. Even if (...) (24 years ago, 5-Sep-00, to lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.trains)

Re: Handling "Kid play areas" on layouts

(...) My experience with kid play areas on one of my LEGO layouts at a train show was that I let the kids touch or modify any moveable portion of the entire layout - small layout of course. The kids were allowed to play as long as the parents were (...) (24 years ago, 5-Sep-00, to lugnet.trains.org)

Handling "Kid play areas" on layouts

I have a question for all the LTCs that have had "kid play areas" on thier layouts. This summer we at the NGLTC had a section that the kids were allowed to drive the trains, and this October we're planning on going a steop futher and having a full (...)   Re: Sponsorships (was: WWLTA)

(...) Oh, I'll take this bait: LEGO paid about 80% of the costs to get the GMLTC and our layout out to Carlsbad. That's it. That's *every* "sponsorship" deal the GMLTC has ever received. We lose money on every show we do, even the occasional show (...) (24 years ago, 5-Sep-00, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.trains.org)

Re: WWLTA (was: Calling all MOCs)

(...) Right now, I doubt there is a real need to have a "WWLTC". Although some aspects of what PNLTC and GMLTC have done are not widely publicised (for example, the exact sponsorship deals that both GMLTC and PNLTC have recieved) this info is (...) There has been a bit of confusion, so let me clear up a point; I'm from the (S.F.) Bay Area LEGO Train Club...
