I don't think that the focus has been lost. For example, the PNLTC show that
we just did, probably more effort goes into building the scenery around the
trains than the trains themselves...but then, the trains occupy less of the
space- I think that just having plywood with track on it looks stupid. At
home, I am aiming to have ~1/5-1/6th of the land covered with trains. In
places, I know that I want tall buildings to cover the areas so that you cannot
see the 2nd lap of track (my new upper level...ah, the benifits of having a 16'
shelf to run a train along...)
I also admit to being a townie who likes trains though...in the case of Lego, I
find that building town buildings adds to the details available to such an
extent as to be well worth my time.
