Ok, more details, in table form (sorry, this will look horrible in the web view - click on "view raw message" to see in monospaced,
I went hogwild here, all types of classic windows except the tiny ones are represented:
1x2x3 doors
Color Plastic Knob Hole Finger Bumps Glue
Red CA right yes solid no yes
Red CA left yes solid no yes
Red ABS left no slotted no yes
Red ABS right yes slotted no yes

Red ABS no slotted no yes yes

Yellow ? no slotted no yes yes
White ? yes solid thin no no (2)
White ? no slotted no yes no
(1) this is a ridge along the bottom of the sides which, doesn't seem to help hold the glass in, what it actually is is that most of
the side wall (and the top part under the studs) is thinner.
(2) glass happens to pop out easy, is not rectangular, the bottom is somewhat angled from both sides so it sticks down further in
the center
1x6x2 3 paned windows
Color Plastic Holes Fingers Bumps Glue
Red CA yes solid wide no
Red ABS yes solid thin ?
Red ABS yes solid no yes
Red ABS yes slotted no yes
1x6x2 3 shuttered windows
Color Plastic Fingers Bumps Glue Glass(2) Sill (3)
Red CA solid wide no 2x6 wide
Red CA solid thin no 2x6 wide
Red ABS solid thin no 2x6 wide
Red ABS solid thin no 2x6 narrow
Red ABS slotted no yes 2x4 wide
White CA solid thin no 2x6 wide
White ABS solid thin no 2x6 wide
(1) all have holes
(2) on the ones with 2x6 glass, there is a ridge which supports the glass at each side of the whole window, in addition to the ones
around the openings, also the holes are between the #1/#2 and #5/#6 studs as opposed to between the #2/#3 and #4/#5.
(2) always non-projecting on the ones I have, the two widths look a bit like:
Wide

============
^
note how it extends to the edge of the shutters
Narrow
---- +---++---+ ----

==========
^
note how it lines up with the frame around the pane of glass
1x3x2 windows
Color Plastic Holes Fingers Bumps Ridge Sill
Red CA yes solid no no projecting
Red ABS yes solid wide no projecting
Red ABS yes slotted no no projecting
Red ABS no slotted no no non-projecting

| (...) Good God Frank, this must have taken you a lot of time! Thanks for the update. I think that with CA windows, only the 1x6x2 shuttered window had more than 2 versions. All other CA windows had only 2 styles - the 1957 version, and the 1958-64 (...) (24 years ago, 21-Sep-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)
