Well, there *is* a very practical reason to run some stuff 8 wide. An 8 wide
hopper is big enough that you can put last year's cheap Halloween candy in
it, and let kids carefully grab some from the train. Either let them get it
from the slowly moving train, or stop the train for a few seconds. This
constrains your layout to have good sections of straight track right at the
edge, but it works for us.

| (...) You're a braver man than I. As I think about it, though, that's a totally cool idea! Imagine if you could get it to be some sort of automated hopper delivery system... Put a trigger on the side of the train that opens up the hopper as it goes (...) (14 years ago, 25-Jan-11, to lugnet.trains)
