Hummm... you would think that a set "truly aimed at the AFOL
community" would have the real power of powered track. :(
But I'll cross my fingers that the Power Functions really will have a
battery small enough to fit in an engine (cause I don't like dummy
engines at all if they can be avoided) and will be powerful enough to
pull a train as well as the old 9V.
Steve has a great point about power functions motors and official
cross-axel train wheels working together for great new train engine
possibilities. So it will really be a matter of battery power.
