  Re: Bogie design (coupler)

(...) It does center it, but it does not give the 1/2 stud offset I need in the other direction. Also: 1) I cannot attach a beam to it and keep in in position. 2) using it as an extension is not an option as it is too wide (2 studs - well 1,5 from (...) (21 years ago, 28-Nov-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: OK whats going on here then?

(...) Hello, It is just a color shift due to the numeric camera I used to picture the switch point. Take it easy :-) Lego has nothing to do with that. By the way, it is a picture of a motorized switch point by a 2793c01 pneumatic cylinder. All the (...) (21 years ago, 28-Nov-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Bogie design (coupler)

Hi all! I am working on a new train, and I am blocked with the bogie design. It is a standard small bogie 6x4, but I do not use a normal coupler, as I do not want the buffers, secondly, the coupler must a bit away from bogie it self, something like (...)   A folder full of inspiration

I don't think he (she?) posts here but I thought I'd bring this folder to the attention of anyone who doesn't browse Brickshelf (URL) full of great little industrial details, I especially like the pallet trucks (URL) and the powered version (URL) (...)   Re: Lessons learned...

(...) Yuk. Yeah I've sheared one of the bogey pins before. Well OK it wasn't actually mine, but it still made me sad.... (...) It's the Alice's Restaurant Anti-Massacree Movement, and all you have to do to join is sing it the next time it comes (...) (21 years ago, 27-Nov-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.trains)

  Re: 0-4-2 Chloe

(...) That's really cute! I like how you used the red nacelles and wheel to create the body. The fire box is a nice touch, too. The only suggestion I might have would be to exaggerate the roof of the cab a bit (perhaps with an overhang) and make it (...) (21 years ago, 27-Nov-03, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: 0-4-2 Chloe

(...) I only had time for a quick perusal but I didn't see any modified bricks. Are you feeling OK? I ask because I care. We tend to worry about you when we don't see modded stuff. It's an, um..., interesting model. I see the inspiration. I think (...) (21 years ago, 27-Nov-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: DCC chip installed in accessory brick

I'm wondering...... Would it be possible to pull the metal wheels from a dead 9V train motor, and fit them into a standard wheelset frame, and convert it into a power pickup? Seems to me it should be possible, it's just how much work it would be. (...) (21 years ago, 27-Nov-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Lessons learned...

First lesson-- the DCC accessory block needs an actual motor attached to the motor output in order for the RCX LDCC to detect and program the DCC chip in the accessory brick. This I did not know. Was wondering what was wrong when I had the DCC (...) (21 years ago, 27-Nov-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.trains)

Re: DCC chip installed in accessory brick

(...) I have trouble accepting the destruction of a perfectly good 9V motor so I guess I will not be making many of these. Unless of course I stumble across a few 'dead' motors!! My best 12Volt locos have two motors so the power pick-up bogey has to (...) (21 years ago, 26-Nov-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: DCC chip installed in accessory brick

(...) Sweet! Love to see pics sometime :) Yeah, the 9v train housing is a strange animal, but I'm pretty much used to it now. My biggest qualm is the lack of 'fake middle wheel' expandability for 3 wheel power bogeys to emulate newer NA locos. Right (...) (21 years ago, 26-Nov-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: DCC chip installed in accessory brick

(...) Yes! It works, I came home this evening and cut open a perfectly good brand new 9V motor and put a 1.5 amp decoder inside and connected it to the 2x2 electrical plate on the motor housing. Now I have those old 12V locos running again. They (...) (21 years ago, 26-Nov-03, to lugnet.trains)
